FULL-TIME: ARSENAL 4 NEWCASTLE UNITED 0By Scott Wilson
Last updated: 20 mins ago * Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (54) heads home Arsenal's opener from Pepe's cross * * Pepe (57) doubles Arsenal's lead as he sweeps homeBukayo Saka's cross
* * Mezut Ozil (90) scored a third thanks to a howler from MartinDubravka
* * Alexandre Lacazette (90) scores deep into stoppage time afterPepe's pull-back
6:22pm
FULL-TIME: ARSENAL 4 NEWCASTLE UNITED 0 All over - and that second half was an absolute horror show from a Newcastle perspective.6:22pm
90. Newcastle ripped apart again deep into stoppage time. Pepe got behind the Magpies defence down the right, and pulled the ball back to Lacazette who slotted home from eight yards out. Newcastle have fallen apart in this second half.6:21pm
GOAL: Arsenal lead 4-0. Lacazette.6:17pm
90. Arsenal score a third - and Martin Dubravka won't want to see thisagain.
Lacazette turned in the area and squared the ball across goal, Ozil prodded a shot straight at Dubravka, but the Slovakian made a complete mess of trying to save and only succeeded in bundling the ball intohis own net.
Game over.
6:15pm
GOAL: Arsenal lead 3-0. Ozil.6:10pm
84. Arsenal make their second change with six minutes left - Lacazettefor Nketiah.
6:09pm
83. Clark is injured by a lunging challenge from Saka, which earned the Arsenal full-back a booking. He can't continue - and is replaced by Schar.6:08pm
81. Arsenal make their first change - Torreira for Ceballos.6:02pm
75. So close for Newcastle. Saint-Maximin creates himself a shooting position on the left of the box, but his effort cannons off the right-hand post. Unlucky for the Frenchman.6:00pm
75. Double change for Newcastle with quarter of an hour left. Ritchie and Hayden on for Lazaro and Fernandez.5:54pm
67. Almost an Arsenal third. Aubameyang took the ball after Pepe crossed from the right and dribbled across the face of the area, but while his chipped shot sailed over Dubravka, it dropped onto the top of the crossbar. It's all Arsenal now.5:49pm
63. Massive chance for Newcastle. Clark finds himself in space as he controls Saint-Maximin's cross in the area, but Luiz stretches out a foot to deflect the defender's shotwide of the post.
5:44pm
57. Newcastle concede two goals in the space of three second-half minutes - and that is almost certainly that. Saka was the architect of the Gunners' second, nutmegging Lazaro before crossing from the left. Arsenal's players were queuing up in the box, and an unmarked Pepe swept home a simple first-time finish.5:42pm
GOAL: Arsenal lead 2-0. Pepe.5:41pm
54. Newcastle are behind - and the goal, when it arrived, was surprisingly simple. Pepe chipped in a cross from the right-hand side, and Aubameyang got between Lazaro and Fernandez to nod home a downward header from eightyards.
5:40pm
GOAL: Arsenal lead 1-0. Aubameyang.5:37pm
51. Newcastle sitting too deep so far in the second half. It's been all Arsenal, with the hosts pinning their opponents back.5:36pm
50. Arsenal should be ahead. Pepe did brilliantly to dribble to the byline, and he cut the ball back to Nketiah six yards out. The striker should have scored, but instead, his first-time volley flicked off the crossbar before sailing over.5:31pm
46. We're back underway in the second half. No changes at half-time.5:17pm
HALF-TIME: ARSENAL 0 NEWCASTLE UNITED 0 Newcastle will be happy with that. They've given as good as they've got, going close through a deflected effort from Longstaff and a shot from Joelinton. Arsenal got going towards the end of the opening period, but their best opportunity came to nothing when Joelinton cleared Mustafi'sgoalbound effort.
5:12pm
41. Arsenal threaten again. Pepe fires in a long-range free-kick, and Dubravka tips the ball overthe bar.
From the corner, Dubravka failed to connect with an attempted punch, and Sokratis hooked in a goalbound shot that Joelinton did well tohead clear.
5:09pm
39. Arsenal finishing the half on top. Aubameyang fires in a shot that loops off Clark and deflects justwide.
Newcastle make a decent job of defending the corner.5:07pm
37. Chance for Arsenal. Ozil teed up Nketiah on the edge of the area, but the Arsenal striker swept a first-time shot straight at Dubravka, who was able to save.5:02pm
32. First real sight of Aubameyang in a threatening position. Ozil played the forward in on the left, and after cutting in from the flank, he drilled a low effort straight at Dubravka.4:56pm
26. A couple of promising counter-attacking moves from Newcastle falter when Almiron and Saint-Maximin are crowded out. Then, at the other end, Saka fires well over from distance.4:51pm
21. Arsenal's best moment so far. Saka plays a neat one-two Ceballos, but curls just over the top from the corner of the penalty area.4:49pm
20. Ceballos fouls Saint-Maximin about 25 yards out - but Longstaff wastes the free-kick by curling the ball miles over the bar.4:48pm
18. Newcastle are on top of things at the moment. Lazaro and Rose are both trying to push forward down their respective flanks and Lazaro in particular is asking questions of the Arsenal defence.4:45pm
14. Two good chances for Newcastle. First, Lazaro swung a corner to Longstaff on the edge of the area, and his first-time volley tooka hefty deflection off Ceballos, forcing Leno to get down well to push the ball away. Then, Saint-Maximin's cross from the left was just behind Joelinton, who could only prod a shot wide from the edge of the six-yard box.4:40pm
11. Arsenal are playing some neat passing stuff - but it's all in front of the Newcastle defence. Still early stages, but Dubravka hasn't been tested at all so far.4:38pm
9. First booking of the game - Xhaka gets a yellow card for a clear pull back on Lazaro.4:34pm
5. Good early break from Newcastle. Joelinton gets down the left and picks out Lazaro. He takes the ball down, but Aubameyang prods the ball behind for a corner just as he'sabout to shoot.
Lazaro delivers the corner - but it comes to nothing.4:33pm
4. The Newcastle end is completely sold out - but there are lots and lots of empty spaces amongst the Arsenal fans. Newcastle sitting deep as expected in the early stages.4:31pm
2. Interestingly, Arsenal have started with Nketiah as their central striker and Aubameyang playing wide on the left.4:30pm
1. We're off and running - with Newcastle lining up as expected with three centre-halves.4:27pm
Here we go then...

4:22pm
A reminder that Newcastle start today's game in 12th position, on the same number of points as their opponents. A win would definitely take them up to 11th, and could see them climb into the top half of the table. Lose, and they'll remain seven points clear of the drop zone, but will have played a game more than 18th-placed West Ham United.4:11pm
There's a strange thing in the sky above the Emirates at the minute -the sun.
The rain has stopped, the wind has died down, and we might actually be getting a nice afternoon for a game of football. Twenty minutes or so to kick-off...4:02pm
The Newcastle players are on the pitch going through their warm-uproutines....

TEAM NEWS
Danny Rose and Valentino Lazaro will both make their first Newcastle United starts in today's game at Arsenal. Rose gets the nod at left wing-back, with Matt Ritchie dropping down to the substitutes' bench. Lazaro is selected on the right of the Newcastle defence, with DeAndre Yedlin dropping out of the side that started the goalless draw againstNorwich.
The other change from that game sees Sean Longstaff preferred to Isaac Hayden alongside Nabil Bentaleb at the heart of midfield. As expected, Joelinton continues as a lone striker, with neither Dwight Gayle nor Yoshinori Muto even fit enough to make the bench. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has left both Alexandre Lacazette and Gabriel Martinelli on his substitutes' bench. _ARSENAL (4-2-3-1): Leno; Bellerin, Mustafi, Luiz, Saka; Xhaka, Ceballos; Nketiah, Ozil, Pepe; Aubameyang._ _Subs: Martinez (gk), Sokratis, Kolasinac, Torreira, Willock, Martinelli, Lacazette._ _NEWCASTLE (3-4-2-1): Dubravka; Fernandez, Lascelles, Clark; Lazaro, S Longstaff, Bentaleb, Rose; Almiron, Saint-Maximin; Joelinton._ _Subs: Darlow (gk), Schar, Lejeune, Hayden, M Longstaff, Ritchie,Atsu._

3:19pm
Not long to wait for the team news now - full expecting Mikel Arteta to name his strongest possible Arsenal team with Aubameyang andLacazette up front.
3:03pm
Steve Bruce has been talking about Danny Rose in the build-up to today's game - and has challenged the full-back to use his loan spell at Newcastle to win back his place in England's starting line-up forEuro 2020.

It's been an action-packed opening 45 minutes in the early Premier League game - and at the break, Spurs lead Aston Villa 2-1 despite having fallen behind. That would be a decent result for Newcastle, with Villa one of the clubs currently below them in the table.2:43pm
A lovely picture on the cover of today's match programme, showing George Eastham, who played for both Newcastle United and Arsenal during his distinguished career... > George Eastham today’s cover star - pictured a month after joining > Arsenal from #NUFC> ...

2:40pm
Steve Bruce has some decisions to make with his team selection - most notably, should Danny Rose and Valentino Lazaro start in the wing-back positions? And if Rose does get the nod, what will that mean for MattRitchie?
At the other end of the field, Joelinton will almost certainly continue as a lone striker with Andy Carroll unavailable and both Dwight Gayle and Yoshinori Muto still easing their way back to fullfitness.
Team news is due at 3.30pm.2:39pm
It's a wet and wild day in North London - here's how things are looking outside the ground... > Can anyone guess who Newcastle are playing today? And so much for > the weather being better in that London. It’s absolutely bloody > lashing down... #NUFC>

Welcome to the Emirates for today's Premier League game between Newcastle United and Arsenal. The Magpies return to action after their winter break hoping to increase the seven-point gap currently separating them from therelegation zone.
