‘I
don’t know why I’m still alive’ … Ozzy Osbourne. Given his recent tribulations – notably his diagnosis withParkinson’s
– it’s hardly surprising that there is a sometimes elegiac feel toOzzy Osbourne ’s
12th solo album. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, I gave my life a try / Forgive me, I didn’t say goodbye,” he sings on Goodbye. On the title track, a stately duet in the post-Beatles mould with Elton John, he opens with the observation “I was unprepared for fame / Then everybody knew my name”, before announcing “I don’t want to die an ordinary man” and “I don’t know why I’m still alive”.collaboration Take
What You Want – Watt is rather better known for his work with Malone and Cardi B than for metal – is, frankly, baffling. AMERICA FACES AN EPIC CHOICE... ... this year, and the results will define the country for a generation. These are perilous times. Over the last three years, much of what the Guardian holds dear has been threatened – democracy, civility, truth. This US administration is establishing new norms of behaviour. Anger and cruelty disfigure public discourse and lying is commonplace. Truth is being chased away. But with your help we can continue to put it center stage. Rampant disinformation, partisan news sources and social media's tsunami of fake news is no basis on which to inform the American public in 2020. The need for a robust, independent press has never been greater, and with your support we can continue to provide fact-based reporting that offers public scrutiny and oversight. Our journalism is free and open for all, but it's made possible thanks to the support we receive from readers like you across America in all 50states.
On the occasion of its 100th birthday in 1921 the editor of the Guardian said, "Perhaps the chief virtue of a newspaper is its independence. It should have a soul of its own." That is more true than ever. Freed from the influence of an owner or shareholders, the Guardian's editorial independence is our unique driving force andguiding principle.
We hope you will consider supporting us today. We need your support to keep delivering quality journalism that’s open and independent. Every reader contribution, however big or small, is so valuable. SUPPORT THE GUARDIAN FROM AS LITTLE AS $1 – AND IT ONLY TAKES AMINUTE. THANK YOU.

There's so much incredible Heavy Metal music being made these days that it's it's disingenuous to say this is a great album. But... it is a good album, with enough high points to celebrate. And after 50 years, I'm happy to applaud Ozzy for staying in the game.Reply

I don't think Ozzy has really had it since 1989 or maybe 1991. The Black Sabbath reunion album too was a washout. He had a great song writing partnership with Bob Daisley and well the 80s were a more inspired time for this kind of Hard Rock music.Reply

He has always needed a good lyricist - you mention Daisley while in Sabbath it was of course mainly Terry Butler.Reply

I believe Daisley or was it someone else wrote a good part of the music too. Along with Jake E. Lee and Randy Rhoads.Reply
