Orson Bean, el actor y comediante que animó con su ingenio distintos programas de televisión e hizo el papel de un comerciante gruñón en “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”, murió al ser atropellado por un auto en Los Ángeles, informaron las autoridades. Tenía 91 años. La oficina forense confirmó que el deceso se produjo el viernes por la noche a causa de un accidente “de tránsito”. Un hombre cruzaba una intersección en el barrio de Venice cuando lo rozó y derribó un vehículo. Un segundo vehículo lo atropelló y le causó la muerte, dijo el agente de policía Drake Madison. Los dos conductores permanecieron en el lugar, ninguno sufrió lesiones y se considera que se trató de un accidente, añadió. Bean actuó en varias películas, principalmente “Anatomy of a Murder” (Anatomía de un asesinato, 1959) y “Being John Malkovich” (¿Quieres ser John Malkovich?, 1999), y en varias producciones importantes de Broadway. En 1962 fue nominado a un premio Tony por su actuación en la comedia musical “Subways are for Sleeping”. Pero las audiencias lo recuerdan sobre todo como actor detelevisión.

Eligió el nombre Orson Bean “porque sonaba gracioso”. En los 90 hizo el papel del tendero Loren Bray en el western “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”, que estuvo en el aire durante seis temporadas. Más recientemente, apareció como artista invitado en “Desperate Housewives”, “How I Met Your Mother”, “Modern Family” y otros programas.
