SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz kicked off the stretch run of the NBA season in less than stellar fashion Friday night at Vivint Arena. Plagued by turnovers and poor shooting, to say nothing of their defensive effort for much of the game, the Jazz fell to the San Antonio Spurs 113-104. Utah, currently the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference, fell to 36-17 on the season, a game behind the No. 3 Los Angeles Clippers and a game ahead of the No. 5 Houston Rockets. Here are three takeaways from the Jazz’s loss to the Spurs. * The Jazz had no answer for San Antonio guard Dejounte Murray. Murray scored a game-high 23 points but didn’t stop there and filled the stat sheet with seven rebounds, four assists and four steals. He wasn’t the only Spurs guard to play well, either. Bryn Forbes added 13 points, 12 of which came from a game-best four 3-pointers. Mudiay scored 18 points off the bench, in 18 minutes played. He sparked a Jazz run that went deep into the fourth quarter, but ultimately fell short. * The Jazz struggled in many areas — they shot 42.7% from the field, 36.4% from 3, all the while letting San Antonio shoot a lights out 50% from behind the arc — but turnovers were their biggest issue. Utah coughed the ball up 17 times, 10 more than the Spurs. Those giveaways led directly to 18 San Antonio points.
