After a positive and encouraging opening 15 minutes for the Canaries, against the run of play Diogo Jota struck twice in the space of ten minutes to give the home side the lead. And after the restart Raul Jimenez soon added a third. Norwich weaved pretty patterns for spells of the game but ultimately lacked a cutting edge and were unable to find a way beyond Rui Patricio despite goal-scoring opportunities for Teemu Pukki and Max

Aarons.

Daniel Farke made two enforced changes to the Canaries line-up. Ben Godfrey, back from a three-game suspension, and Jamal Lewis replaced injured pair Christoph Zimmermann and Sam Byram. City started with a real impetus and could have had the lead inside

ten minutes.

Lewis released the overlapping Kenny McLean, who from the left channel delivered a low centre for Teemu Pukki with the striker’s instinctive near-post effort repelled by Rui Patricio. McLean then struck a sweet effort from 25 yards straight down the throat of Patricio after some good hold up play from Pukki. But against the run of play Norwich were dealt a cruel blow on 20

minutes.

Following a Wolves move down the right side, Jota collected the ball inside the area before spinning away from a defender and firing through the legs of Tim Krul. And the lead was soon doubled following a short corner kick from the

hosts.

Romain Saiss pounced on a loose ball following Jonny’s delivery, firing across the face of goal where the unmarked Jota converted into an empty net from point blank range. Prior to the interval Ruben Neves was twice denied from free kicks by superb saves from Krul. The second was a particularly impressive reflect stop, diverting a powerful effort from the edge of the area

onto the crossbar.

After the restart the home side maintain their momentum and did add a third through Jimenez. Jota escaped the attentions of the Canaries backline before striking a low shot against the base of the near post, with Jimenez alert to convert the rebounds into an unguarded goal. Max Aarons then played a neat give-and-go with Todd Cantwell down the right side before seeing a low shot saved by Patricio. On the hour mark, City introduced Emiliano Buendia and Josip Drmic in an attempt find a route back into the game. Drmic created City's best chance to get on the scoresheet on 67 minutes when he fed Pukki on the edge of the box but his effort flew

over.

At the other end, Doherty almost added a fourth late on but a Krul did well to clear the danger.
