Ben Simmons has continued his sensational form of late, securing yet another triple-double in the Philadelphia 76ers' win over the title favourite LA Clippers. Simmons and All-Star teammate Joel Embiid were both dominant, capitalising on the added space on the court after head coach Brett Brown opted to bench $162 million free-agent signing Al Horford prior to the 110-103 home win. The Australian was in attack mode all night, finishing with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists on an efficient 12-for-22 shooting clip. Simmons also did a terrific job on the defensive end, defending both of the Clippers' stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in stretches. During the contest, former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy, who was on commentary for TNT, suggested that the Australian star was on the same level as the reigning Finals MVP. Simmons' star performance drew comparisons to reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard (Getty) "Is it possible to say that a guy going to the All-Star game like Ben Simmons is underrated? Because I think he is," Van Gundy said. "I still don't think people appreciate how good a player this guy is at both ends of the floor. "I think he's in the league of Kawhi and George as two-way players in

this league."

In securing a triple-double in consecutive games for the third time in his career, Simmons joined NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain as the only player to have consecutive triple-doubles on multiple occasions in the Sixers' franchise history. Along with Simmons' spectacular showing, Embiid also starred as he finished with 26 points, nine rebounds and two assists. "It didn't surprise me," Brown said after the win. "When we all add up Ben Simmons and Joel's stat line - add up the points, add up the rebounds, add up the assists - it's arguably the best game that those two have paired up with since I have been the

coach here.

"I think that Joel and Ben, we put them in a lot of deep pick-and-rolls, we put them in a lot of high-low actions, and so the partnership of Ben and Jo needs to be acknowledged. "With the noise surrounding Jo over the past 24 hours, him coming out and playing like he did, it didn't surprise me." Brown said Simmons and Embiid's combined performance might have been the best of their careers (Getty) With the spotlight on the partnership between the pair only increasing in recent days, both Embiid and Simmons praised the way they were able to gel against the Clippers. "We're getting better and it's only going to get better," Embiid said. "We still have a lot of potential so I'm excited about how much we can get better, but it's not about us. "We got great teammates that help make the game easier for us, so we've just got to trust in our teammates and try to get better." "I think the chemistry was just good," Simmons added. I think we did a good job of getting mismatches and finding them." Just days after telling the raucous crowd at Wells Fargo Center to shut up, Embiid was booed when his name was called in the starting line-up introductions, but said he understood the fans' reactions. "They've been going at me and I went back at them. We are all human

beings," he said.

"If I can take it then everybody else can take it too, so we move on. I've got to do a better job, they've got to do a better job. "I understand where they come from, but then again, if you dish it you've got to be able to take it."
