Dolezal, age 67, of Kewanna, Indiana passed away Thursday, April 28, 2021. Greg was born April 10, 1954 in Gary, Indiana to Edward and Geraldine Dolezal, both deceased. He had been the proprietor of Ed’s Auto Parts in Knox for over 50 years, and most recently was the owner of G&G Guns in Star City, Indiana. Hannah Lueth has been offered the position, following the approval of the county commissioners Monday. The Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) was officially launched by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation Monday.. Regions made up of counties, cities, and towns can apply for up to $50 million to help implement projects and programs designed NORTH JUDSON MINT FESTIVAL ORGANIZERS WORKING TO ADAPT TO The North Judson Mint Festival is hoping to make a comeback this year. Festival President Donna Henry told the town council last week that while there’s no guarantee that large-scale events will be allowed come June, organizers had have begun holding planning meetings. STARKE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS DO NOT ACT ON PROPERTY The Starke County Commissioners did not act on a request to vacate property submitted by Tom DeCola of Argento, LLC as a procedure needs to be completed before the commissioners will take action on it. The request was somewhat similar to a previous request that was denied by the commissioners in 2020. DeCola asked to vacate portions of land PULASKI COUNTY BZA APPROVES ANOTHER SPECIAL EXCEPTION FOR A proposed solar farm has passed another approval round with the Pulaski County Board of Zoning Appeals. Board members approved a special exception request ASHLEY DICKINSON NAMED CEO OF ENTIRE NORTHWEST HEALTH Ashley Dickinson has served as CEO of Northwest Health’s Starke and LaPorte hospitals since 2017. Starting Monday, she’ll be CEO of the full Northwest Health system, according to a hospital press release. The county commissioners Monday agreed to raise the transfer station’s disposal fees by 50 cents for the per-bag rate and by a penny a pound for items measuredby weight.

__Michael Gallenberger The Hamlet Town Council has signed onto an agreement outlining how the communities of the Constellation of Starke region will work together going forward, but not without some questions about the legality of some of its provisions. The inter-local agreement covers the relationship of the region’s member units during the application phase. If the region is designated a Stellar Community, it would also cover the construction and initial implementation phase lasting from2020 to 2025.

The total budget adds up to more than $13.9 million. Just over $5.4 million of that will be the Education Fund, and a little more than $4.5 million will be the Operations Fund. $1.6 million is budgeted out of the revenues resulting from last year’s property tax referendum. TM Construction of Winamac was the apparent low bidder at just under $77,000. The highest bid was almost three times that, with J. Shoffner General Contractor of LaPorte submitting a bid for more than $221,000. Garner Construction of Hanna offered to do the work for less than$102,000.
