Founded in 1907, the Winchester SPCA has been advocating for animals for over 100 years. The SPCA was founded by a small group of concerned citizens wanting to make a change for animals and their community. In 1951, the first shelter was built. FAQ | WINCHESTER SPCA | BECOME A VOLUNTEER Feral cats are often the offspring of pet cats who were lost or abandoned and had not previously been spayed or neutered. These kittens, if they survive, will become feral without early socialization with people. Without spay/neuter, they will grow up, reproduce, and continue the cycle. Female cats can reproduce two tothree times a year.

Lost & Found. The SPCA keeps records of animals reported as lost for 30 days. When new animals are brought in the lost records are cross referenced and potential matches are notified. If you have lost a pet, contact the SPCA with a description. FAQ | WINCHESTER SPCA | BECOME A VOLUNTEER Feral cats are often the offspring of pet cats who were lost or abandoned and had not previously been spayed or neutered. These kittens, if they survive, will become feral without early socialization with people. Without spay/neuter, they will grow up, reproduce, and continue the cycle. Female cats can reproduce two tothree times a year.

Pet Cremation and Memorials. We understand that the loss of a pet can be heartbreaking. Pet cremation services are offered at the SPCA Admissions Center located at 115 Featherbed Lane. Pet cremation with ashes and a basic urn is $100 per pet. Please allow at least three weeks to receive your pet’s cremains. HISTORY | WINCHESTER SPCA | ADVOCATING FOR ANIMALS History. Founded in 1907, the Winchester SPCA has been advocating for animals for over 100 years. The SPCA was founded by a small group of concerned citizens wanting to make a change for animals and their community. In 1951, the first shelter was built. WORKING CATS PROJECT The Winchester SPCA’s Working Cats Project provides “working cats” for businesses or individuals as an effective and efficient means of rodent/pest control. At the same time, it provides homes for cats that may otherwise not be adopted as “pets”. Thus, this program is designed to benefit both the cats, their adopters and thecommunity

We will accept owner surrenders from both Frederick and Clarke Counties when space allows. We do not accept pets from outside the state of Virginia.
