KING COBRA RESEARCH STATION, WESTERN GHATS, INDIA An authority on the king cobra, in 2004, Rom acquired eight acres of land surrounded by the last great tracts of rainforest in the region. Utilising funds from the Whitley Award, Rom and his team are now building a unique rainforest research and education facility, the first of its kind to be built along the whole 1,000 km length of theWestern

MONITORING OF ELEPHANT POACHING AND IVORY TRADE, INDIA AND The pressure to open up the ivory trade even more is expected to continue. Vivek will continue to monitor the ivory trade routes and flow, illegal poaching activities and the overall effect on the Asian elephant population. This is paramount in order to provide the international community with a true picture of the effect of decisionsthey take.

These coveted Awards are presented by our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal at an annual ceremony held in London each spring. They are won competitively following assessment by an expert academic panel and are worth40,000 in project
ELIGIBILITY
Leadership and teamwork – Whitley Awards are won by individuals backed by an appropriate team/organisation. Individuals working in isolation and team/joint entries are not eligible. Projects that are based on scientific evidence and understanding – this can be in the leader, expertise on the team, or via partners/collaboration.APPLY FOR FUNDING

The Phulchowki mountain forests of Nepal support a rich endemic bird community and nearly 300 avian species. MONITORING OF ELEPHANT POACHING AND IVORY TRADE, INDIA AND The pressure to open up the ivory trade even more is expected to continue. Vivek will continue to monitor the ivory trade routes and flow, illegal poaching activities and the overall effect on the Asian elephant population. This is paramount in order to provide the international community with a true picture of the effect of decisionsthey take.

These coveted Awards are presented by our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal at an annual ceremony held in London each spring. They are won competitively following assessment by an expert academic panel and are worth40,000 in project

Leadership and teamwork – Whitley Awards are won by individuals backed by an appropriate team/organisation. Individuals working in isolation and team/joint entries are not eligible. The project has successfully propagated 2,000 species of plant, an incredible one third of the region’s flora. As highly specialised plants, many are rare or endangered, and 40% are endemic.
