Garry oak, or Quercus garryana, is a species of white oak native to the Pacific Northwest with a natural habitat ranging primarily from southern British Columbia, down through Western Washington and in to the Willamette Valley of Oregon.It’s quite a unique white oak and very distinct from its cousins in the eastern half of the country. SPECIFICATIONS. TASTING NOTES: Nose: A sweet fragrance of cottonwood serves as the greeting followed by Waffle Crisps cereal and rich smoked chocolate notes. HAND-FILLED DISTILLERY EXCLUSIVE SINGLE CASK The foundational elements of this cask are a familiar composition for those who have been following the development of our house style. Boasting a 5-malt grain bill and new American oak cask this whiskey was matured for 51 months before making a sharp departure from the expected path finishing its time in a Marsala wine cask—a fortified wine from Sicily aged in the solera-style much like Sherry.WESTLAND
Cask #3824 is made from our signature 5-malt gain bill and spent the majority of its life maturing in a new American Oak cask before finishing for three months in a 1st-fill ex-rum cask.WESTLAND
The fourth release in our Cask Exchange program features Lucky Envelope Brewing from the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. For this release we chose to fill the beer casks with a 5-malt spirit that ran through our stills immediately after a Peated spirit run, imparting a distant peat smoke flavor. GARRYANA EDITION 4|1 SPECIFICATIONS TASTING NOTES. NOSE: The nose opens with Honeycomb cereal, bubbling molasses, and gingerbread cake, transitioning into baked bread and subtle stewed fruits (fuji apple, banana).
