SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE TEAM (SART) Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) WEAVE became Sacramento County’s sole Rape Crisis Center in 1988. The Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) of Sacramento County was formed in 1989. It is a victim-sensitive program designed to provide a team approach to responding to sexual assaults in our community. Teamwork, cooperation,communication, and
CYCLE OF VIOLENCE
The Cycle of Violence describes the pattern of abusive relationships. There are three distinct phases: tension building, explosion and false honeymoon. Tension Building This phase is often described by survivors as “walking on eggshells”. Tension and stress are building and the survivor is trying to control the situation to avoid possibleviolence.

The use of alcohol or drugs in a sexual assault never excuses the actions of a rapist, nor do they implicate the survivor. Survivors of drug or alcohol facilitated sexual assault may not remember much of the assault and may question whether the assault happened at all.
