Throughout 2020, our volunteers and staff have done an incredible job, repurposing and redesigning our projects and programmes, and in many areas taking part in the front-line response to Covid-19. This wouldn’t be possible without the wonderful support we receive from players of People’s Postcode Lottery. GETTING TOGETHER MATTERS DURING COVID-19 VOLUNTEER-PRODUCED PODCASTS HELPING PEOPLE CONNECT The podcast series focuses on each of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing, proposed by the Mental Health Foundation. These are: Stay Connected, Keep Active, Give, Learn new skills and Pay attention to the present moment (mindfulness). We tied the series in with this year’s themeon nature.

Our very own CEO Paul Reddish will be undertaking a gruelling 1000km cycle from Edinburgh to London via Wales to say a heartfelt thanks to the thousands of people across the UK who have made a difference in their communities in the last 12 months or so – and raise money for good causes. The Newcastle Passport Scheme will enable the formation of a network of volunteers who are fully recruited, trained, supported and ready to respond quickly and appropriately to the needs of the local community. Taking learnings from the impact of COVID-19, this scheme will trial how a volunteer passport could help organisations and volunteers 10 TIPS TO RECOGNISE YOUR VOLUNTEERS Say thank you. This is the easiest and probably most effective way to recognise your volunteers. And it’s free! Say thanks to your volunteers often and be sincere and specific when you do it. Saying thanks can be done informally – in person, on the telephone, email or card and/or formally at special events. Make sure everyoneunderstands
