Lake St. John is another oxbow product of the Mississippi River. The 2,100 acres are lined with moss-covered cypress and endless amounts of wildlife, and sunsets on the lake are fantastic. Public access is available at three launch sites on the lake's south side. Spokane Resort Boat Rental is located on the highway as you arrive at Lake St. John with pontoon boats available for rent to the public. MAGNOLIA HALL HISTORIC HOME Construction on Magnolia Hall is believed to have begun in 1858, as the residence of Thomas Henderson, a Natchez native who became a wealthy cotton broker and merchant. The house was built on the site of the Henderson family home, Pleasant Hill, which was moved one block south to free the lot for the grander, more modern home. The name of the house was inspired by the plaster magnolia blossoms STANTON HALL HISTORIC HOME Stanton Hall Historic Home. When you first get a glimpse of Stanton Hall, it will boggle your mind to know that builder, Frederick Stanton, paid $83,000 to build this opulent, Greek Revival style home, which occupies an entire city block. Stanton was an Irish immigrant and he'd originally named the house Belfast. NATCHEZ CITY CEMETERY The Natchez City Cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic places, established in 1822 when remains were moved to the present location from Memorial Park (located behind St. Mary's Basilica downtown). Tombstone inscriptions embellished by romantic and mysterious tales draw portraits of the dearly departed interred here.
