Tire manufacturers are always in pursuit of excellence by inventing new ways to design and engineer tires. That's why tires today are much safer and better performing than the tires of just a couple decades ago. With thousands of scientists and engineers at work developing tomorrow's tires, our focus is on driving road safety forward.HOW A TIRE IS MADE
Every tire is carefully inspected, and random samples are pulled for additional safety tests. As part of these tests, tires are x-rayed, cut apart and examined, run on test wheels, or road-tested to evaluate handling, mileage and traction performance. If properly cared for, tires can last a long time – usually from 40,000 to 80,000 miles, depending on the application.TIRE REPAIR BASICS
Tires must be removed from the rim/wheel assembly and inspected for all possible damage—including damage to the inner liner. Tire repairs cannot overlap with other repairs. A rubber stem, or plug, must be applied to fill the puncture injury and a patch must be applied to seal the inner liner. ( A plug alone is an unacceptablerepair.)
