China was the top goods export market for four states—Alaska, Alabama, South Dakota, and Oregon—in 2020, up from only two in 2019. SUPPLY CHAIN RESILIENCE AND THE FUTURE OF US-CHINA TRADE Amidst disruptions from the US-China trade war and COVID-19 pandemic, companies are reconsidering the balance between supply chain efficiency and resilience. At the same time, both the US and Chinese governments are rethinking supply chain policy. The Biden administration has mandated a series of reports to examine critical supply chains and provide policy recommendations (the WHITE HOUSE ISSUES REPORTS OUTLINING STRATEGY FOR FOUR Yesterday, the White House released the findings of its 100-day review of four critical supply chains mandated under a February executive order. The report mentions China hundreds of times, giving significant attention to vulnerabilities posed by China’s dominant position in four supply chains that are critical to the United States: semiconductors, high-capacity batteries, critical minerals TRUMP’S TIKTOK, WECHAT ACTIONS TARGETING CHINA REVOKED BY The WeChat app, in particular, is widely used by US companies that do business in China.
