FIVE TO SURVIVE
Working in retail, we risk COVID-19 exposure every day on the job. Our work has always been essential in our communities, but the companies we work for have prioritized pandemic profits over our health and our lives. We’re calling on Amazon, Walmart, PetSmart, Petco, and all corporate retailers to take responsibility for our safety and well-being at work with our Five to Survive platform. TRAININGS - UNITED FOR RESPECT Orientation. Are you are having issues at work? You may have heard of United for Respect and want to know more about who we are, what we’re doing to fight back and what you and/or your co-workers can do to advocate for the changes you deserve. PRINCIPLES FOR QUALITY JOBS Principles for Quality Jobs . A Seat at the Table. People who work hourly jobs have an interest in the long-term health of our companies and should be included as corporate board members, with the same rights and responsibilities as other directors. WALMART’S INADEQUATE PAID SICK LEAVE COST LIVES. IT NEEDS This week at its annual shareholders’ meeting, Walmart celebrated the record profits it raked in during the pandemic. It certainly was a good year for the company and its owners. The Walton family saw their personal wealth increase by over $48 billion, and the company’s top six executives saw their total compensation reach nearly $80 million. UNITED FOR RESPECT LAUNCHES EMPLOYEE-DRIVEN COVID-19 An arrow pointing to the right Previous Post More Essential Than Ever, Low-Wage Workers Demand More. 04/28/20 FAIR WORKWEEK INITIATIVE The Fair Workweek Initiative, anchored by United for Respect and the Center for Popular Democracy, is driving the growing momentum to restore a workweek that enables working families to thrive. Over 1.8 million working people now can count on a fair workweek through new laws won in 7 cities and two states. Now Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington could be next.WALMART CAMPAIGN
We need Walmart to change what decisions are made and who is making them. We’re demanding a say in what happens at the top because it impacts us at the bottom. We’re fighting for seats on the board of directors – associates need to be represented on the corporate board to ensure that our voices, issues, and experiences are a part of building real change at Walmart. WALMART 2021 PANDEMIC WORKFORCE ADVISORY COUNCIL PROPOSAL RESOLVED that shareholders of Walmart Inc. (“Walmart”) ask the Board of Directors to create a “Pandemic Workforce Advisory Council” (the“Council”), composed of hourly associates, to provide advice to the Board (including any relevant Board committee) upon request on pandemic-related workforce issues, including health and safety measures, whistleblower protection, and paid sick leave.×
