Fysiker Benny Lautrup har fået Alzheimers. Langsomt, men stædigt æder sygdommen den skarphed, der gjorde ham til professor. Den fattige dreng fra Istedgade, der endte som anerkendt forsker, er dog vant til at holde sig oprejst, når jorden ryster under ham.
