The cam belt is essentially a rubber belt and rubber deteriorates with age, irrespective of the car’s mileage. If it does fail, the resultant damage would cost much more than it would cost to replace the cam belt. I’m a firm believer of preventative maintenance, so IAIR CON PROBLEMS

That would be two minor services and a major. The price per month seems ok around £26 per month and another £10 or so for the cambelt change. I have a written quote and as i will only do two more services with them i don't think i will do it , but then who knows. CAN I GET MIRRORLINK ACTIVATED? If you do have an App Connect compatible infotainment unit, then to activate it, you’ll need you’d need to order an activation key from your dealer. A couple of years ago, the cost for retro-activation was somewhere in the region of £200-£230, but it may have increased since then. Top. 10 posts • WHAT ARE THE POLOS SERVICE INTERVALS? I’m pretty certain that the default setting from the factory is the flexible service regime. Time and distance is more appropriate for lower mileage drivers. Turbo fault. So my daughter has a 4 year old 1.2tsi with 10,000 miles on the clock. We have already have had one failure where the windscreen wipers could not be switched off and this needed a complete new wiper/indicator column assembly. We now have a poorly running engine with a EPC fault light and fault code P334B00 which is, I think WIPERS TURNING ON RANDOMLY Re: Wipers turning on randomly. I believe you'll find that to be the company "Sanden" They are one of the companies making aircon compressors, besides Bosch, Denso and Continental. I have the exact same problem on my Polo 4 years now, and the VW official workshop is unable to troubleshoot and repair the problem. RED OIL LIGHT FLASHING 2011 POLO 6R 1.6 TDI BM 90HP Hello everyone Just bought a Polo 6R 1.6 TDI used. Problem: Red oil light comes on after revving the engine or after driving for a few meters. Light does not come on if the engine is idle, no matter how long it works. What was done: I checked the oil after I bought it and some "genius" mechanic put too much in. Sucked out about 1 liter of oil through the dipstick pipe !!! STRANGE (COMMON?) CENTRAL LOCKING/ELECTRIC WINDOWS PROBLEM My thoughts are with a) a loose connector in the block (it seems to be the larger of the 2 blocks that affects the outcome), b) a problem with the board onto which the male connector terminals are attached to, or c) a fragile wire. Car is a 2009 Polo 6r 1.4 16v. Most of the time it starts first time but occasionally the car fails to start. Dash lights up as expected, engine turns over but the car refuses to start. ANY WAY TO DISABLE THE AUTO START/STOP FEATURE PERMANENTLY The hardware method is to fit a an electronic “disable” module which effectively presses the SS button for you every time you start the car. The more sophisticated versions with a memory feature allow you to turn the disable feature on or off and remember the last setting. The modules are readily available and cost typically cost30 -£60.
WIPERS NOT TURNING OFF Hi , my polo seems to have devolved a fault , the wipers do not switch off completely dispite the stalk stalk being in the off position . When in off position wipers are still on intermittent mode and only go off when ignition is off . I’ve found the fuse and bodged it by putting in a switch , but obviously this is a temporary fix ,can any REPLACEMENT/SECOND CAR KEY Hi, if it is a folding key with a remote fob integrated into it, you could buy a "same as your one" but used on ebay, buy a new blank blade and buy a new unused transponder for engine "unlocking", then get that blade cut to suit your locks and the transponder programmed to suit your car's engine "lock". TYRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT QUESTION If you reset and then a short while later you have to check again, the tyre has a puncture or the sensors monitoring rolling circumference (XDS/ABS) have an issue. No great change in the temperature on the day in question. All I did a few days previously was to check the pressures with a guage.The action of connecting the guage wouldrelease

Losing coolant is not a know issue with this engine, filling the coolant back up to above the MAX level may well mean that some will get forced out at your local temperatures, but my wife's 2015 Polo 1.2TSI 110 6MT has never ever needed its coolant topped up and the level does not move very muchfrom cold

During initial tests I found small amounts of water to be dripping down the very far left hand side of the passenger footwell (as shown in attached images), but then when testing again another day no water entered the cabin. After leaving it for the last couple of days I’ve come back to finding the felt in the passenger footwell wet yet again.AIR CON PROBLEMS

Turbo fault. So my daughter has a 4 year old 1.2tsi with 10,000 miles on the clock. We have already have had one failure where the windscreen wipers could not be switched off and this needed a complete new wiper/indicator column assembly. We now have a poorly running engine with a EPC fault light and fault code P334B00 which is, I think PASSENGER FOOTWELLS FULL OF WATER. During initial tests I found small amounts of water to be dripping down the very far left hand side of the passenger footwell (as shown in attached images), but then when testing again another day no water entered the cabin. After leaving it for the last couple of days I’ve come back to finding the felt in the passenger footwell wet yet again. PASSENGER FOOTWELLS FULL OF WATER. If you do have an App Connect compatible infotainment unit, then to activate it, you’ll need you’d need to order an activation key from your dealer. A couple of years ago, the cost for retro-activation was somewhere in the region of £200-£230, but it may have increased since then. What's worrying me is that it seems to have vanished off the spec sheet for the GTI, even as an option. There only seems to be a reference to lowered suspension. CENTRAL LOCKING PROBLEM It has to be manually locked from the inside or with the key from the outside. When unlocking from the the driver's side, it unlocks along with the boot and the driver's door. The locking button on the inside of the driver's door works occasionally on the passenger lock. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
