THE BARNES FOUNDATION The Barnes Foundation. Originally housed in a Paul Cret gallery in an arboretum in Merion, Pennsylvania, the Barnes Foundation collection is re-located to a 93,000 SF, LEED Platinum building on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in downtown Philadelphia. Conceived as “a gallery in a garden and a garden in a gallery,” the new building honors the NEUROSCIENCES INSTITUTE Neurosciences Institute. Location: The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA. Date of Completion: 1995. Program: Theoretical and Clinical Research Campus. Size: 56,000 SF. Sustainability: In 1996 the project was awarded the Energy Efficiency Integration Award from San Diego Gas & Electric. Awards: 1997 AIA National Honor Award, 1997 NYACE AMERICAN FOLK ART MUSEUM The American Folk Art Museum was an idiosyncratic home for idiosyncratic art. A forty-foot-wide, one hundred-foot-long site on 53rd Street was the institution’s home. Completed in 2001, the eight-level building was the first new museum built in New York City in more than three decades. Four upper floors were devoted to galleryspace for

Now a National Historic Landmark, the school selected our studio to design an indoor competitive swimming pool that would integrate quietly with its rich architectural fabric. This building is both a gateway and a connector. Skirkanich serves as the formal entrance to the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS). Located in the heart of campus, Skirkanich sits between two historic structures by Paul Cret and Cope and Stewardson. The siting of the building creates a formal entry and central courtyard for SEAS. JEWISH THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY Jewish Theological Seminary. Location: New York, NY. Program: Academic and Dormitory Residential Program. Founded in 1886, the Jewish Theological Seminary is one of the premier Jewish institutions in the United States. It consists of five dormitory buildings housing 525 students, a dining hall for 625 students, a faculty residence and a computer facility. LOGAN CENTER FOR THE ARTS Following a design competition, we were selected as architects for the Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago. The building sits at the southern edge of the Midway Plaisance, a green space designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition.ON SLOWNESS
