HYBRID TURBOCHARGER UPGRADES A hybrid turbocharger is simply a turbo that is non-standard, but more specifically combines parts from different frame sizes and in some cases from different manufacturers.. A hybrid turbo, if designed properly, will allow the extra flow and pressure to be achieved at a safe and reliable turbine speed and at higher compressor efficiencies. HOW DOES A TURBOCHARGER WORK? How Does A Turbocharger Work? Very simply, a turbocharger is a kind of air pump taking air at ambient pressures (atmospheric pressure), compressing to a higher pressure and passing the compressed air into the engine via the inlet valves. TURBOCHARGER OIL FACTS SAE 5W, 10W, 15W and 20W ratings are oil thickness (viscosity) measurements at –25°C, -15°C and –10°C respectively. This is all to do with cold starts in winter conditions. 5W and 10W are really intended for severe North European (or American) winters. The fundamental differences between a naturally aspirated and a turbocharged engine are: the compression ratio, camshaft profiles, fueling, ignition timing, type of pistons and the strength of some of the rotating parts. TURBOCHARGING YOUR NORMALLY ASPIRATED CAR? It is a common misconception that fitting a turbo is as easy as bolting one on! A turbocharger as an engine component can increase the power output by 30% quite easily and up to 100% in some cases. Therefore the first thing to look at is the engine itself. Is the engine capable of withstanding that type of increase in its present state? Was it capable when it was new? FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS A vehicle remap replaces default software on the ECU, overwriting it with new software which can be programmed to optimize the cars overall performance. This is known as vehicle remapping because the ECU is essentially a program that controls how the engine works. When your car is remapped, the tuned software is plugged into your cars serial WHY CERAMIC COAT YOUR TURBO? Ceramic Coating has been proven to: - Reduce underbonnet temperatures by up to 50 degress celsius (122 degrees fahrenheit), as independently measured & confirmed by DAMAX Race Engineering. - Reduce surface temperatures by 33%. - Increase engine performance, eg. a 30 degress drop in intake air temperature can deliver a 6% increase in power. GREEN TECHNOLOGY: TURBOCHARGING CAN HELP REDUCE C02 EMISSIONS Turbochargers, best known for making cars go faster, are taking a lead in the race to cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Automotive manufacturers are being challenged to meet increasingly stringent emissions and fuel efficiency requirements - industry experts agree that turbo technology offers one of the most cost-effective routes to achieving the desired results.
