JETTING DATABASE

Got a couple questions. I have an 05 with hrc lid, stock filter, mxp full exhaust, 192 main, 52 pilot, screw 2.25 out. 13:1 wiseco but at idle, my header turns welders red. just the first 90*, but revving in neutral no backfire, but when i let off the throttle when im going down the road, it pops. not really loud, just a little. header only gets a little red when im riding, which is normal

BURNING COOLANT

05 TRX 450 kicker Purchased non- running. Replaced crank, and top end. Started it up and runs fine but was burning coolant, replaced head gasket and installed new head studs. Started it up and ran fine for about 5 minutes, then started burning coolant again. Hooked air

compressor to spark

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO.. whats the difference between the 450r and 450er?? and what year did they start having the e-start? any info would help as im looking to buy a honda 450 soon. i was thinking about purchasing a 07-08 White Honda 450. Please..any info would help. Thanks in advance.

VALVE CLEARANCE

Joined Nov 23, 2004. ·. 5,074 Posts. #5 · Oct 12, 2006. There are little disc (shims) at the top of each valve assembly. These shims have a number on them telling you their thickness. Edit - Forgot to convert, disregard my numbers listen to 450RRR. If someone wants to double check my numbers it TRX450R: COMMON ISSUES? Shaggs. Hi guys, ive been thinking of getting a 450r but was interested in hearing the common issues the bike has, ie: Frame, electrical/wiring, engine/drivetrain, and suspension issues. The only complaint ive heard so far is the frame could use gusseted, but I would like to hear more from a group of owners such as yourselves,

HOW TO TEST THE STATOR/IGNITION PULSE GENERATOR(PICK UP By looking at the schematic, one would think there should be continuity. But knowing that the sensor creates AC voltage, it may not work that way. If you have a voltmeter that will get down and read low AC voltage, you can probe the two leads and swipe a metal piece or a magnet across the tip of it and create somekind of voltage. WEAK SPARK ISSUE....06 ER When it's grounded, via kill switch or ign, the current takes the path of least resistance and you lose spark at the plug. Continuity wise, the blk/wht wire should never have coninuity to the battery neg, unless a kill switch is engaged (run off or ign off). It's this continuity that kills the spark.

TYPE OF OIL

The Honda Gold bottle is good stuff. WHAT SIZE IS THE FUEL LINE? Do any of you know what size the fuel line is on the 450r? I would like to put an in-line filter on, but I'm not sure of the size of the fuel line and my bike isn't in front of me. Would it be the standard 1/4" line filter? I thought I remember something about the fuel line

STARTS BUT DIES

1,014 Posts. #10 · Apr 10, 2009. sounds like the Throttle Over Ride System to me. when i hooked mine up wrong the first time after installing a motion pro twist throttle, it would start and idle great. you could even run it all the way up to the rev limmiter and let out on the clutch and it would just die. remove the two wires from your WEAK SPARK ISSUE....06 ER When it's grounded, via kill switch or ign, the current takes the path of least resistance and you lose spark at the plug. Continuity wise, the blk/wht wire should never have coninuity to the battery neg, unless a kill switch is engaged (run off or ign off). It's this continuity that kills the spark. DECOMPRESSION ADJUSTMENT So came across a 06 trx450ER not running. I did a simple rebuilt on the motor. New rings, STOCK OE piston,gaskets/seals. Also checked the valves for leaks. None found. The carb has been cleaned and all ports blown out with compressed air and new seals. I set up the decompression by the CRANK BEARING CLEARANCES? I had caught my crank bearing failure early in my 04 trx450r. So, I decided since I had the engine apart I would put a HOT RODS stroker crank in it. Anyways, installed crank w/new bearings, seals etc. Everything looked good, cases weren't spun in bearing seats - bearings

went in firmly -

IGNITION TROUBLESHOOTING 101 Also the ignition can be cut trough the main switch (conduct) and kill switch (conduct), this can be checked on the 6 Pins (last) CDI connector, measure the resistance between the engine and the Blue/White wire, there must be infinite or high resistance with the main switch ON and kill switch ON. THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR.... SCHOOL ME CTPDS is a safety system (on 06+ only) which consists of two switches..one on throttle (on bars) and one inside carb (where cable goes in) if the ICM see's the thottle switch closed (throttle shut) but the carb switch closed (throttle drum open) it kills the ignition at the ICM..shutting off the bike (because it thinks slide is stuck).

HOW TO CHECK OIL?

thanks for the info. i plan to change the oil every ride, or every other ride depending on the circumstances but because i just got them i wasnt really sure where to start, but i think ill be better off just changin the oil in them. im gonna use rotella on both sides, and ill prob just change the tranny fluid every time i change the engine oil.

First guess would be something in the main jet. Definately would cut out past mid throttle. But since you cleaned it, my second guess is stator. When the stator starts to die, it will cut out and act as a false rev limiter. I've seen it happen on

a couple bikes.

HEAD GASKET PROBLEM

So I have finished putting together my '04 motor, only to have a coolant leak out of the head gasket. I discovered this yesterday after bolting the motor in the frame and hooking up the radiator. Engine has not been ran yet. Both cylinder head and jug just came back from MXP,

I would like to put an in-line filter on, but I'm not sure of the size of the fuel line and my bike isn't in front of me. Would it be the standard 1/4" line filter? Please..any info would help. Thanks in advance. DECOMPRESSION ADJUSTMENT So came across a 06 trx450ER not running. I did a simple rebuilt on the motor. New rings, STOCK OE piston,gaskets/seals. Also checked the valves for leaks. None found. The carb has been cleaned and all ports blown out with compressed air and new seals. I set up the decompression by the WEAK SPARK ISSUE....06 ER When it's grounded, via kill switch or ign, the current takes the path of least resistance and you lose spark at the plug. CRANK BEARING CLEARANCES? I had caught my crank bearing failure early in my 04 trx450r. So, I decided since I had the engine apart I would put a HOT RODS stroker crank in it. Anyways, installed crank w/new bearings, seals etc. Everything looked good, cases weren't spun in bearing seats - bearings

went in firmly -

OXY POWER FUELS AND POWER FUEL ADDITIVES DYNOED I run mr9 in my quad (pretty much the same as mr10 or mr11) and let me tell you it kills me everytime i buy that stuff. my 450 motor is close to 16:1 compression and i beleive it made 58hp on race gas(i think 110 octane) and made 61hp on on mr9, so ya it definetly does increase the hp even on high compression motors. of course it is a pain in the arse because you have to drain it after

DECOMPRESSION ADJUSTMENT So came across a 06 trx450ER not running. I did a simple rebuilt on the motor. New rings, STOCK OE piston,gaskets/seals. Also checked the valves for leaks. None found. The carb has been cleaned and all ports blown out with compressed air and new seals. I set up the decompression by the DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO.. whats the difference between the 450r and 450er?? and what year did they start having the e-start? any info would help as im looking to buy a honda 450 soon. i was thinking about purchasing a 07-08 White Honda 450. Please..any info would help. Thanks in advance. WEAK SPARK ISSUE....06 ER When it's grounded, via kill switch or ign, the current takes the path of least resistance and you lose spark at the plug. Continuity wise, the blk/wht wire should never have coninuity to the battery neg, unless a kill switch is engaged (run off or ign off). It's this continuity that kills the spark.

The Honda Gold bottle is good stuff. HOW TO TEST THE STATOR/IGNITION PULSE GENERATOR(PICK UP By looking at the schematic, one would think there should be continuity. But knowing that the sensor creates AC voltage, it may not work that way. If you have a voltmeter that will get down and read low AC voltage, you can probe the two leads and swipe a metal piece or a magnet across the tip of it and create somekind of voltage. WHICH YEAR FOR XC?

What’s up fellas, which year would be best for XC racing? I sold my 04 which I loved but I’m gonna buy another to set up for XC racing. 04-05 is my preference because of less electrical. But would electric start help for XC starts??? Thanks for the input

1,014 Posts. #10 · Apr 10, 2009. sounds like the Throttle Over Ride System to me. when i hooked mine up wrong the first time after installing a motion pro twist throttle, it would start and idle great. you could even run it all the way up to the rev limmiter and let out on the clutch and it would just die. remove the two wires from your TRX450R: COMMON ISSUES? CRANK BEARING CLEARANCES? I had caught my crank bearing failure early in my 04 trx450r. So, I decided since I had the engine apart I would put a HOT RODS stroker crank in it. Anyways, installed crank w/new bearings, seals etc. Everything looked good, cases weren't spun in bearing seats - bearings

OXY POWER FUELS AND POWER FUEL ADDITIVES DYNOED I run mr9 in my quad (pretty much the same as mr10 or mr11) and let me tell you it kills me everytime i buy that stuff. my 450 motor is close to 16:1 compression and i beleive it made 58hp on race gas(i think 110 octane) and made 61hp on on mr9, so ya it definetly does increase the hp even on high compression motors. of course it is a pain in the arse because you have to drain it after
