THE PLOUGHSHARES MOVEMENT Trident Ploughshares. Trident Ploughshares (initially called Trident Ploughshares 2000 or TP2000) was publicly launched in Hiroshima, Gothenburg, Gent, Edinburgh and London on May 2nd 1998. Trident Ploughshares aims to train and enable hundreds of international global citizens to dismantle the British Trident nuclear weapon system. THE SUBMARINES & MISSILES The Submarines & Missiles. Trident is a submarine-launched inter-continental ballistic nuclear weapons system, which is currently carried by four Royal Navy Vanguard-class submarines. Trident is a US nuclear system. The US provides assistance to Britain with its nuclear programme under the 1958 US-UK Mutual Defence Agreement. HIROSHIMA-NAGASKI 75 YEAR COMMEMORATION. This summer, we will be commemorating the 75 th anniversary of the horrific atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. You are invited to join us in calling for an end to nuclear weapons, starting with Britain’s Trident Missiles

NUCLEAR WARHEAD & MATERIALS CONVOYS Nuclear weapons convoys travel up to six times a year delivering warheads from Burghfield to Coulport and returning with others for refurbishment. These same vehicles also transport other military nuclear materials such as tritium and submarine reactor core rods. They also go on training runs and to other locations for accident

exercises.

FASLANE BLOCKADED BY EXTINCTION REBELLION SCOTLAND On Friday 30th April a group of XR Scotland rebels blocked Faslane’s North Gate to demand a ‘Safe, Green Future’. Climate activists from Extinction Rebellion Scotland, collaborating with Trident Ploughshares and Faslane Peace Camp, blocked the North gate of the Faslane Naval Base, home of the UK’s nuclear submarines, for 11

hours.
