There you can hire kayaks (or paddle boards) and go out into the mangroves alone or with a guide. The marina has also a variety of restaurants to have lunch or dinner. Aeroplanes can often be chilly anyway so this is a great opportunity to sneak an extra outfit or accessories to your destination without being penalised for the extra weight. Layer a tank top with t-shirts and a hoodie or leggings under shorts for serious packing efficiency. PARIS WITH A TODDLER Go on a hot air balloon. This sounds expensive but actually it is only 12 Euros per person and kids go free, and was one of our favourite Paris toddler activities. The balloon is in Parc Andre Citroen. Tickets can be bought at the office in the park and the balloon goes up approximately every 15 minutes during the day. GOING TO BALI WITH BABY The cost is 35 USD for all age groups. THINGS TO DO IN ABU DHABI WITH KIDS The Mangrove National Park is located just out of downtown Abu Dhabi and best visited from the Eastern Mangroves Marina (Eastern Mangroves Hotel). There you can hire kayaks (or paddle boards) and go out into the mangroves alone or with a guide. The marina has also a variety of restaurants to have lunch or dinner. TRAVELLING WITH A NEWBORN We set off on a ten-month adventure with both children when they were between 7 and 9 weeks old. With my first baby the idea seemed daunting, I was so nervous, however when it came down to it, I was quite surprised at how easy it was. HOW TO PACK FOR A FAMILY OF FOUR IN ONE CHECKED … TAKE LAYERS ONBOARD. Wear layers onto the plane. Aeroplanes can often be chilly anyway so this is a great opportunity to sneak an extra outfit or accessories to your destination without being penalised for the extra weight. Layer a tank top with t-shirts and a hoodie or leggings under shorts for serious packing efficiency. PARIS WITH A TODDLER Go on a hot air balloon. This sounds expensive but actually it is only 12 Euros per person and kids go free, and was one of our favourite Paris toddler activities. The balloon is in Parc Andre Citroen. Tickets can be bought at the office in the park and the balloon goes up approximately every 15 minutes during the day. GOING TO BALI WITH BABY The cost is 35 USD for all age groups. If you check in a buggy, expect for it to take a while to show up. They wheel oversize baggage through little by little from the plane on a trolley and its a big enough airport! However, it does not have to be that way. ‘Travel Mad Mum’ aims to inspire other parents with personal experience, factual information and top tips for travelling with little ones. I always attempt to cover a range of topics such as backpacking with a baby, flying with a baby, flying with a toddler, travelling on maternity leave, babymoon travel, packing for a baby as well as destination based information relevant for family travel. The biggest message I would love to send to parents is that your travelling lifestyle does not have to end when you start a family. Travelling is an incredible way to bond as a family, introduce your child to a variety of sights, smells and sounds and prepare them for a life surrounded by other cultures.
