Trans characters are so frustratingly rare that we usually have to turn to interpetation to get representation, as a result, this blog is supposed to be a place where all interpretations of character's gender identities are welcome. You can submit trans headcanons for any character from any fandom. We have a "why" listed to support interpretations of most characters, but it is not intended to mean that a character (or a person) has to prove that they are trans beyond just saying so. We include the "why" so that anyone who comes across the post can understand why they are interpreted that way and will maybe be convinced that the character is trans, not to encourage any type of gatekeeping. If we post something offensive, please let us know.

What tips do you have on ensuring fair representation of trans individuals?" * Don’t reduce your trans characters to stereotypes of being cross dressers/caricatures of the gender they are transitioning to. * Don’t make your trans characters “ lite” and make it seem like trans characters are less of their gender than a cis person is (i.e., don’t make is seem like a trans man is less of a man than a cis man or a trans woman as less of a woman than a cis woman). * Trans people and characters are more than their trans-ness; they have aspirations, purposes, interests, hobbies, relationships, etc. Reflect that in your writing. * Don’t make the only trans characters (or any minorities for that matter) the villains in your story because that further demonizes us. * Don’t use a character’s transness for shock value or make someone being trans come off as a deception to the other characters in

your writing

* Try to avoid sexualizing and fetishizing trans characters. Trans people can and do have healthy sexual relationships, but often times in media and in real life, trans folks (especially trans women) are reduced to a fetish/sex object. So if you do include sexual content in your writing, be careful about how you portray trans characters in it. * Nonbinary people come in a wide variety, so think hard about your character’s identity and how their presentation may reflect that. Some nonbinary people present as masculine or feminine and are still just as nonbinary as those who present as androgynous. Gender presentation =/= gender identity * That being said, don’t be afraid to make your nonbinary characters androgynous I am not by any means a professional writer, but these are just some things that I thought of.
