I think there's only one reason for the change, which is the close association many churches have built with the Republican party. Regardless of whether Trump and the Republicans did WHAT IS GOOD IN GOD'S EYES? To summarize: God's goal is a universe that reflects his glory. His goodness is expressed in his love, holiness, righteousness, justice, and wisdom. What is good for humans is to come into a knowledge of God, to know his many-faceted goodness, and begin to share in his character: to become complete in Christ. This is with a view toeternity, so
WHY DID GOD ORDER THE DESTRUCTION OF NATIONS? Thus the time came for the long-standing degradation of the land to be swept clean, and for the warlike, perverted nations there to be removed. God called for a complete cleansing because he knew anything less would leave the Israelites exposed to temptation to similardebaucheries.

WHY DID GOD ORDER THE DESTRUCTION OF NATIONS?WHY DID GOD CHOOSE USGODCHOOSES WHO HE WILL
Thus the time came for the long-standing degradation of the land to be swept clean, and for the warlike, perverted nations there to be removed. God called for a complete cleansing because he knew anything less would leave the Israelites exposed to temptation to similardebaucheries.
TEN TURNING POINTS: WHY THE CROSS? From the series, Ten Turning Points That Make All the Difference Why did Jesus die on the cross? Last time in this series I explored Bruce L. Shelley’s observation, “Christianity is the only major religion to have as its central event the humiliation of its God.” Why would God—why would any God—endure such a thing? Let’s see what the Bible has to say about it. AN IRRATIONAL RANT AGAINST RATIO CHRISTI An Irrational Rant Against Ratio Christi. Jacob Hubers thinks Ratio Christi is a “horror.”. Clearly he’s disturbed that it exists. I am no longer with Ratio Christi but I continue to support it, partly because Christians need to learn how to think about life and faith. Huber himself demonstrates the vacancy that exists in some Christians THE OTHER SIDE OF CHRISTIANITY Phillip Pullman’s take on the Church is unremittingly, unrelentingly negative; so much so that it seems that even for a nonbeliever, such a one-dimensional view would be boring at best. It goes beyond caricature. This evening I’ll be leading the first of two library book discussions on His Dark Materials. AT THE CORE: THE BEST OF THINKING CHRISTIAN John Moore May 5, 2021 at 9:46 pm on Heat to Light: Our Lost Moral High Ground, and How to Begin Reclaiming It I agree with you that many Americans perceive U.S. Christianity to have lost the moral high ground. I think there's only one reason for the change, which is the close association many churches have built with the Republican party. Regardless of whether Trump and the Republicans did ABOUT - THINKING CHRISTIAN BY TOM GILSON TWO THINGS THAT BOTHER ME IN PINECREEK DOUG'S CRITIQUE OF Two Things That Bother Me in Pinecreek Doug’s Critique of. Too Good to be False. It’s begun! I’ve been looking forward to the first atheist responses to Too Good to be False. Pinecreek Doug, an atheist known to me mostly for his street epistemology, posted a video critique yesterday. It’s the first pushback any atheist has offeredso far.
WHY I'M NOT ANSWERING NON-SERIOUS OBJECTIONS TO TOO GOOD I’ve been looking forward to serious skeptical answers to Too Good to be False. Unfortunately after a couple responses, especially a recent one on YouTube by “Paulogia,” I’m still looking forward to it. This wasn’t one of them. There’s an expectation that an author will answer challenges such as Paulogia delivered in thatvideo. I
DISAPPOINTING: SEIDENSTICKER'S ATHEIST CRITIQUE NOT EVEN It’s strange. You’d think an atheist as sure of himself as Bob Seidensticker would be more serious about it. Last week he blogged the question, “How Good Was Jesus if He Didn’t Eliminate Slavery? ” I answered by explaining how the the principles Jesus’ taught cut every leg out from under slavery, even as he focused on his mission of revolution at the level of the heart. Part of PASTOR, YOUR JOB IS ABOUT CROSS-CULTURAL MISSIONS NOW Listen to the Thinking Christian podcast on this topic!. Dorothy’s line was prescient: “Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.” Today you could almost say Kansas itself isn’t in Kansas anymore, as if the whole world got grabbed by a whirlwind and dropped on some strange planet somewhere else. EPISODE 2-7: EQUIPPING PASTORS FOR THE CROSS-CULTURAL Dorothy told Toto, “I have a feeling we aren’t in Kansas anymore.” I’d say what used to be Kansas isn’t Kansas anymore.. No town, large or small, remains unaffected. Our world has changed drastically in the past several decades, so much that church ministry everywhere in both the U.S. and Canada (especially Canada), not to mention the rest of the Western world, has become cross WHY I'M NOT ANSWERING NON-SERIOUS OBJECTIONS TO TOO GOOD I’ve been looking forward to serious skeptical answers to Too Good to be False. FORGET THE MYTHS, IGNORE THE HYPE; HERE'S WHAT WE REALLY I’ll bet you missed this in the post-election brouhaha: “Christmas” began for Hindus with their Divali celebration in November. It fits for them because Jesus is the son of Brahman, one of their avatars (divine incarnations), the son of (Brahman). He spent six of his “missing” years in India, then went on to Tibet for further study in Buddhism. LOCKED DOWN? 'THEY ALSO SERVE WHO ONLY STAND AND WAIT Locked down. We’re in a season of waiting, waiting, waiting. Maybe it’s nearing its end, but we’ve got a long way to go before things open up fully for all. Many of us remain stuck waiting. In that context I was talking with some friends this week about this John Milton sonnet, titled (by some) “On His Blindness.”. CRITICAL THEORY'S NO-HOPE MIX OF POWER, OPPRESSION, AND Power Relationships. Critical theory takes this as moral truth, because morality is almost entirely a matter of groups’ power relationships, which are a matter of oppression versus liberation. As the authors say, Critical theory’s pronounced focus on liberation has the effect of minimizing, or even negating the existence of othermoral duties.
HOW TO PROVE A CHRISTIAN WRONG IN THREE EASY STEPS David Marshall wrote a chapter in True Reason describing the strong biblical relationship between faith and reason. It was to no avail, however. The “A-Unicornist” showed he was wrong, in just three easy steps: The Bible is a religious book, so you can’t use the Bible as your source of information on what’s written in the Bible.; Implied: Just because you Christians are the ones who WOULD JESUS BE A GOOD PRESIDENT? So it’s not that he wouldn’t be good as president of the United States. It’s that “President of the United States” is completely wrong for Jesus. It’s not what he came for. It’s not who he is. It may be the most powerful position in the world, but it’s nothing toJesus Christ.
WHY WEARING CLOTHES OF MIXED FABRICS (LEV. 19:19) WAS Why Wearing Clothes of Mixed Fabrics (Lev. 19:19) Was Wrong. Unbelievers love to bring forth unreasonable commands from the Bible to prove that it’s wrong. Leviticus 19:19 is one of their favorites: “You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind. WHY HEBREWS 11:1 DOESN'T MEAN FAITH IS WITHOUT EVIDENCE “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). We are in agreement that your article does not provide sufficient evidence to justify the Christian faith, and I recognize that this was not your intention; however, the hermeneutical game you are playing is a misrepresentation of the biblical definition of faith.Skip to content
