SEAN SPICER WILL SEND YOUR LOVED ONES A CUSTOM VALENTINE'S DAY MESSAGEFOR JUST $199
February 12, 2020
Sean Spicer has the answer to your last-minute Valentine's Dayscramble.
The former White House press secretary is generously offering up custom video messages once priced at $400 for a mere $199 through the end of February. "If you forgot to get someone you love a thoughtful Valentine's Day gift, it's not too late," Spicer shared in an Instagram video posted Tuesday. Just find him on the Cameo app and you'll "get the best way to tell someone you love them (a video from me)" by Friday. While it may seem like a high price from a man who once gave us somewhat daily video messages on the government's dime, Spicer isn't just pocketing your cash. Every dollar will go to The Independence Fund, specifically to help buy wheelchairs for wounded veterans, Spicer says on Cameo. So forget the flowers that will wilt in a week and get a custom message that will hold your loved one's interest for at least as long. _KathrynKrawczyk_

WITH TICKETS COSTING $580,600 PER COUPLE, TRUMP'S SATURDAY FUNDRAISER WILL BE HIS MOST EXPENSIVE YET12:12 a.m.
Don Emmert/AFP via Getty Images If you want to attend President Trump's Saturday night fundraiser in Palm Beach, you better sell that old Renoir on the wall, quickly marry an oligarch, sell a kidney to a despot who really needs it, or ask Mike Bloomberg for a loan. The $580,600-per-couple event will be held at the beachfront home of billionaire investor Nelson Peltz, and is Trump's most expensive fundraising event since he took office, _The Washington Post_ reports. The invitation promises dinner and a photo with Trump, the _Post_ reports, and a Republican National Committee official said 30 or so guests are expected. This event will bring in more than $10 million for Trump's re-election efforts. Since October 2017, Trump has attended at least 48 dinners and roundtable discussions with top Republican donors, the _Post_ reports. Tickets to all of those events started at $50,000. Campaign officials told the _Post_ that while the Secret Service does do background checks, the White House doesn't vet guests. The _Post_ points out that in 2016, Trump called out his fellow candidates for courting wealthy donors, saying, "Somebody gives them money — not anything wrong — just psychologically when they go to that person, they're going to do it. They owe them." Republican National Committee spokesman Mike Reed told the _Post_ Trump is "the most accessible president in history," and "these roundtables, which previous presidents attended as well, are an opportunity for our supporters to get an update on the campaign and his record as president, all things the president discusses publicly all the time."_Catherine Garcia_

CBS NEWS POLL: MORE NEW HAMPSHIRE GOP PRIMARY VOTERS HAVE GREATER LOYALTY TO TRUMP THAN THE REPUBLICAN PARTYFebruary 13, 2020
Drew Angerer/Getty Images CBS News conducted a poll of New Hampshire Republicans who voted in Tuesday's primary, and found that a majority feel a greater allegiance to President Trump than theRepublican Party.
The results, released Thursday night, show that 55 percent of primary voters chose Trump versus 39 percent who picked the Republican Party. When asked to share their feelings about the Trump administration, 65 percent said they are "enthusiastic," 24 percent are "satisfied," 6 percent are "dissatisfied," and 5 percent are "angry." Of the primary voters who said they did not want Trump to get the GOP nomination in 2016, 62 percent said they still voted for him in the election. About 1 in 10 cast their ballot on Tuesday for someone other than Trump, with most supporting former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld. When asked about Trump's impeachment, a majority of the Republicans said they think it will help him get re-elected. Read more about thepoll at CBS News.

TRUMP SAYS HE'D VOTE FOR A GAY PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATEFebruary 13, 2020
Jim Watson/AFP via Getty Images President Trump would have no problem voting for a gay candidate for president, he told Fox News' Geraldo Rivera on Thursday. Rivera interviewed Trump for his podcast, _Roadkill With Geraldo_, and asked if he believes Americans would vote for a gay man to be president. One of the Democrats in the running this year is Pete Buttigieg, the openly gay former mayor of South Bend, Indiana. "I think so," Trump responded. "I think there would be some that wouldn't, and I wouldn't be among that group, to be honest with you. I think that it doesn't seem to be hurting Pete Buttigieg. But there would certainly be a group that probably wouldn't. But you and I would not be in that group." A Gallup poll released last year found that 76 percent of Americans would vote for a gay or lesbian presidential candidate, NBC Newsreports.
This was a major shift from a few decades ago; in 1978, only 26 percent of respondents told Gallup they would vote for a gay or lesbian candidate. _Catherine Garcia_Pot politics

66,000 MARIJUANA CONVICTIONS WERE JUST DISMISSED IN LOS ANGELES COUNTYFebruary 13, 2020
Justin Sullivan/Getty Images This week, 66,000 marijuana convictions in Los Angeles County — some dating back to 1961 — were dismissed. Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey announced on Thursday that she filed a motion asking a Superior Court judge to erase 62,000 felony and 4,000 misdemeanor convictions, and the order was signed on Tuesday. With this move, 22,000 people no longer have felonies on their record in California, while 15,000 now don't have a criminal record at all, the_ Los Angeles Times_ reports. This affects 53,000 people — 45 percent are Latino, 32 percent are black, and 20 percent are white. "What this does is correct that inequality of the past," Lacey told the _Times_. "It gives them a start, a new start." In 2016, California voters passed Proposition 64, which legalized possession and the purchase of up to an ounce of marijuana, plus lets people grow up to six plants for personal consumption. _CatherineGarcia_

LISTEN TO BILLIE EILISH'S JAMES BOND THEME SONG FROM _NO TIME TO DIE_February 13, 2020
Might this song score Billie Eilish an Academy Award? The Grammy-sweeping artist on Thursday released her James Bond theme song from the upcoming film _No Time to Die_. At 18 years old, Eilish is the youngest person ever to record a Bond theme. Eilish's involvement in _No Time to Die _was announced last month,
at which point she said in a statement that "to be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor," also calling James Bond "the coolest film franchise ever to exist." She wrote the song with her brother, Finneas. The last Bond theme song for _Spectre _was performed by Sam Smith, while Adele performed the theme for 2012's _Skyfall_. Both of those artists' songs ultimately won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, raising the possibility that after Eilish's Oscars performance on Sunday, she could be headed back next year as a winner. At the very least, does every other artist debuting an original song in a 2020 movie have some competition on their hands? To quote Eilish, duh.Brendan Morrow

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE DIVERTING $3.83 BILLION FROM BUDGET TO BUILDBORDER BARRIERS
February 13, 2020
Nicholas Kamm/AFP via Getty Images The Defense Department notified Congress Thursday that it is diverting $3.83 billion from one part of its budget in order to construct 177 more miles of President Trump's southern border wall. The $3.83 billion was going to be used to purchase two F-35 fighter jets and two Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft for the Marine Corps; one P-8A reconnaissance aircraft for the Navy; and eight MQ-9 Reaper drones and four C-130J transport planes for the Air Force, _The Washington Post_reports.
The Defense Department is using a counternarcotics law to move the money without congressional approval; under this law, the Pentagon can construct fencing for other federal, state, and local agencies in areas where there is known drug smuggling. The White House wants to take $7.2 billion from the Pentagon budget for the wall, which Trump promised to build during his 2016 presidential campaign, with Mexicopaying the bill.
There was bipartisan criticism of the move. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) released a statement saying, "This latest effort to steal congressionally appropriated military funding undermines our national security and the separation of powers enshrined in our Constitution." Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Texas) said the "re-programming announced today is contrary to Congress' constitutional authority, and I believe that it requires Congress to take action." _Catherine Garcia_battinson begins

HERE'S THE 1ST OFFICIAL LOOK AT ROBERT PATTINSON'S BATMANFebruary 13, 2020
So long, Batfleck. Battinson has officially arrived. _The Batman _director Matt Reeves on Thursday dropped the first official look at Robert Pattinson in costume as the new Batman. A 55-second, _Daredevil_-esque video uploaded to Reeves' Vimeo page shows off Pattinson in the brand new suit for the very first time, though it's camera test footage and not actually taken from _The Batman_. Without further ado, here he is: While Reeves was at it, he also provided our first tease of Michael Giacchino's score from the film, as Giacchino himself has confirmed. It's
just a taste, but with Giacchino composing, the music naturallydoesn't disappoint.
_The Batman _sees Pattinson take over as the Caped Crusader after Ben Affleck, who played the character in the poorly-received _Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice _and _Justice League_. Hitting theaters in 2021, it's set to follow a younger version of the character, and it's got quite the cast, with Zoë Kravitz playing Catwoman, Paul Dano playing the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin. Soak in Battinson in all his glory below. Brendan Morrow The Batman - Camera Test from MattReeves on Vimeo .
