LEONARD SAFRAN TURNS 100 Leonard Safran turns 100. It’s a rare feat to live to see one’s 100th birthday. But then again, Mr. Leonard Safran is a rare man. Born Aug. 6, 1920, in Haverhill, Leonard was orphaned from his father when he was only five. Brought up by his European-born mother and his two much older siblings, young Leonard, like so many in his generation CONSULATE COMMEMORATES MIZRAHI JEWISH EXODUS Consulate commemorates Mizrahi Jewish exodus. LEXINGTON – On June 23, 2014, the Israeli Knesset designated a national day to commemorate the Jews whom Arab countries and Iran expelled or otherwise displaced after the founding of the State of Israel in 1948. The exodus brought to a close the 2,500-to- 3,000-year history of most of these Jewish FAMILIAR FACES JOIN HEBREW COLLEGE Both Tanchel and Summit come from extensive backgrounds in Jewish education.
