The Jaunt is combining the two best things in life: art and travel. We are sending contemporary artists all over the world for inspiration and new impressions. Because nothing is more inspiring than stepping out of your comfort zone. SIGHT UNSEEN. CONCEPT — THE JAUNT The Jaunt’s mission is to catalyse progress and feed fresh insight into the creative process of our artists. The first step in this process is taking the artist out of their comfort zone and allowing them experience completely new surroundings. Destination Worldwide. The concept is simple: we find an artist and send them on a trip toanywhere

THE JAUNT #063: SWOON -------------------------ARTIST: Swoon
_Brooklyn, New York_ Caledonia Curry, also known as Swoon, is a Brooklyn-based artist who merges her creative process with her activism and intent of improving the world street art. She works in a wide variety of media, such as street art, installations, sculptural works and video animations. Since 1999 she has been wheat-pasting life-size portraits of everyday locals onto the walls of New York and other cities across the world. Later in 2005 she put together her first solo exhibition with Jeffrey Deitch gallery in New York, and since then she has exhibited in museums and galleries all over the world, including the Brooklyn Museum, the MoMA and the 2009 Venice Biennale. DESTINATION: Nilwella, Sri Lanka The small fishing village of Nilwella lies in a peaceful and beautiful area in the south of Sri Lanka, about three hours away from the capital Colombo. At the edge of the village lies Śūnyatā, a retreat founded by the artist Ricky Lee Gordon, who created this place as a way to back into the creative self away from the noise of the past and the future.
