Designed in 1957 by Knud Olsen as a preparation class for the Finn, the OK became a hugely popular boat in its own right.Big growth in the 60s and 70s was slowed significantly by the arrival of the Laser in the 80s, but the class is still very popular and attracts very high quality sailors. BOOKS FOR SAILING TACTICS Tactics by Rodney Pattisson. Rodney Pattisson is a bit of a legend, so I was keen to get my hands on this book. The book is old fashioned, for sure, but a lot of the stuff in here doesn’t have a “use by” date – it’s still as relevant as ever it was. GENERAL SAILING BOOKS The books in this section are general sailing books – that is, books that aren’t on specific topics (like weather prediction or tactics), but that cover a range of topics and are applicable to a range of (or even all) dinghy classes. THE COMPLETE INTRODUCTION TO LASER RACING BY BEN TAN What we thought of The Complete Introduction to Laser Racing. There are quite a few books about sailing Lasers available (see the links at the bottom of the page for some of the others), but Ben Tan’s book is right up there with the best of them.
