QUANTITATIVE EEG
A Quantitative Electroencephalogram, or QEEG, is recommended for those who are planning to do EEG Biofeedback (Neurofeedback). This assessment measures the different brain waves (delta, theta, alpha and beta) at 19 sites and the relationships of all pairs of sites in three parameters — coherence, phase, and asymmetry. A QEEG is also recommended for those who want to know precisely how their WHY GET A NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL TEST? Why Get a Neuropsychological test? For many conditions in the field of mental health, the diagnosis is determined by whether the patient meets criteria from a long list of possible symptoms. COGNITIVE REMEDIATION: TREATMENT FOR TRAUMATIC BRAIN Cognitive Remediation for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of death among persons under 35, and approximately 80,000-90,000 persons suffer long term disability following a head injury (Chua et al, 2007). The Brain Clinic in NYC offers Cognitive Remediation as an effective, non-pharmaceutical treatment for the long-term effects of TBI. DEPRESSION BIBLIOGRAPHY Depression Bibliography. I am sometimes asked if there are research articles supporting neurofeedback treatment for depression; some articles are listed below. CHRONIC TRAUMATIC ENCEPHALOPATHY Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a neurodegenerative disorder caused by recurrent mild traumatic brain injuries (TBI), which are commonly a result of sports injuries. Given the popularity of contact sports, research on the prevalence and development of CTE has grown in recent years. BIOFEEDBACK FOR ANXIETY A variety of biofeedback modalities have been used in treating anxiety including galvanic skin response (GSR), temperature training, EMG, and neurofeedback (Yucha & Montgomery, 2008). Biofeedback is one of the most useful adjuncts in treating physiologic hyperarousal, both episodic and chronic, seen in anxiety disorders. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) has been identified as important risk factor contributing to the later development of dementia. Currently, it is hypothesized that 5-15% of dementia cases are preceded by the occurrence of a TBI (1). NONVERBAL LEARNING DISORDER Nonverbal Learning Disorder. Overview. Nonverbal learning disability (NLD) refers to a learning disorder that is characterized by deficits in visual-spatial organization and processing that significantly interferes with academic and social functioning (1).QUANTITATIVE EEG
TESTING ACCOMMODATIONS FOR THE USMLE The most important exam for becoming a doctor is the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE). The USMLE is necessary in obtaining a medical license in the United States and Canada, and your score can determine your future in your chosen field. NEUROFEEDBACK FOR TOURETTE SYNDROME Overview. Tourette syndrome (TS) is a neurological disorder that is characterized by repetitive, involuntary tics that may appear in the form of vocalizations or other motor movements. NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF CARDIAC SURGERY Cognitive and fatigue problems after heart surgery (sometimes called cardiac bypass surgery). The patient who has had cardiac bypass surgery is usually not warned about possible cognitive problems after the surgery, and thus the person can sink into a depression because they do not understand why they cannot function the way they used to. Symptoms/Etiology. The terms anoxia and hypoxia are often used interchangeably, although anoxia refers to a complete lack of oxygen in the arterial blood or tissue and hypoxia refers to a reduction in oxygen in the tissue. The term hypoxemia, also sometimes used interchangeably, refers to the reduction of oxygen saturation in arterial blood.. It is the less common type of frontotemporal dementia (FTD), which accounts for 20-40% of cases. The other type of FTD is called behavioral variant of frontotemporal dementia, which affects personality and behavior. COMMON BIOFEEDBACK MODALITIES Other methods of biofeedback include capnometer, which measures the CO2 from the breath, and pelvic floor EMG rehabilitation, an effective treatment for pelvic floor training for female urinary incontinence and vulvodynia (Glazer & Laine, 2006; Glazer, 2000). This latter method of biofeedback has proven so successful that Medicare pays forthis

NEUROFEEDBACK AND NEUROTHERAPYA new treatment
has been emerging in the last several decades for Attention Deficit Disorder and other mild brain-behavior problems —biofeedback of your brain waves. This is Neurofeedback, and the latest term is Neurotherapy. This method of treatment has been shown to be effective for a wide range of disorders besides Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); it can help PMS, alcohol abuse, depression, mild brain dysfunction from a variety of causes (some examples are cognitive problems from cardiac bypass surgery, chronic fatigue syndrome, Lyme disease) and closed head injury. Patients learn how to self regulate their own brain states by watching feedback on the computer (including your favorite movie). The most common
treatment for chronic pain is drug therapy. The problem with this is that many of the medications can be addictive. And the addiction can sneak up on you. Before you know it, you might be craving to have this medicine. This has contributed to many problems in the country, one of which is the over-dose deaths from Oxycontin. In my office I use biofeedback and neurofeedback to treat pain conditions, and it hasbeen effective.
