THE MIKDASH (SANCTUARY) The Mikdash (Sanctuary) The Mikdash is built of three parts: The Ulam (Hall); the Kodesh (the Holy area) also known as the Heichal, and the Kodesh Kodashim, the Holy of Holies. Together they are all called the Heichal (according to the Rambam's Laws of the Beit Habechira). On the sides of the Heichal was a series of small compartments, whoseTHE COURT OF ISRAEL

THE HOLY OF HOLIES
The Holy of Holies is the most sanctified place in the Mikdash. It housed the Ark of the Covenant and the Two Tablets of the law. Only the High Priest was permitted to enter here, and only on Yom Kippur. In the center of the Holy of Holies stood the foundation stone upon which the Ark rested. RED HEIFER THE CEREMONY The Bridge. On account of the principle already familiar to us that impurity from below rises up, a special bridge was erected which led out from the eastern gate of the Holy Temple, and connected with the "Mount of Anointment" - that is the spot on the Mount of Olives, directly facing the gate and aligned with the entrance to the Sanctuary, where the purification process was conducted. The Ephod. The most important garment worn by the High Priest is the ephod. ON THE TEMPLE MOUNT: ASCENDING THE TEMPLE MOUNT ON THE 855TH ANNIVERSARY OF RAMBAM'SHISTORIC ASCENT
Today I ascended the Temple Mount to mark the 855th anniversary of the Rambam's (Maimonides) historic ascent to the Temple Mount on the 6th of _Marcheshvan_, where he prayed, in_ "the great and holy house."_ The Rambam's personal ascent to the Mount plus his teachings concerning the proper way to ascend the Temple Mount for the purpose of performing the positive commandment of _Mora Mikdash_ (giving honor to G-d in the place of the Holy Temple) are of crucial importance to this day, as more and more Jews are following the Rambam's footsteps and ascending the Temple Mount in purity. TEMPLE TALK: GREETING THE NEW MONTH OF KISLEV - THE MONTH OF DREAMS! FROM BIRTHRIGHTS TO BLESSINGS - WHO WANTS THEM AND WHO DESERVES THEM? RIVKAH & YITZCHAK, DEEP IN LOVE & SEARCHING OUT THEIR SONS' UNIQUEQUALITIES
The month of _Kislev_ is upon us! The month of _Chanukah_ and the month of dreams, as _Yaakov's, Yosef's_ and _Pharaoh's_ dreams shape and foretell the future of the nation of Israel. But before the dreams begin we have before us in _parashat Toldot_ the harsh reality of two rival brothers, the self-made Esau and the knowledge absorbing _Yaakov_. How do we understand the differing parental observations and aspirations between _Yitzchak_ & _Rivkah_? And why does _Esau_ seem to give up without a fight? POSITIVITY & THE HOLY TEMPLE: JOIN THE HOLY TEMPLE REBELLION! The miraculous liberation of the Temple Mount in 1967 was a game changer. For 2000 years Jews have prayed for the moment when we can rebuild the Holy Temple, yet, fifty three years after liberation the Temple Mount, the Holy Temple remains unbuilt. Why? The orthodox religious establishment in Israel, embodied by the state recognized Rabbinate, is still not on board. Justifications for not building are offered, but they are not built on the words of either the written Torah or the oral Torah. The transition from exile to redemption which has taken place over the past seventy years has passed over many of the great rabbis of our generation, who remain unwilling to accept either the privilege or the responsibility of having possession of the Temple Mount. But many other people, rabbis included are ready, willing and able to begin the rebuilding of the Holy Temple today! There are times when the establishment is out of step with reality. In such times it is up to the people to take up the cause, in spite of the establishment's misgivings. Join the Holy Temple rebellion! WEEKLY TORAH STUDY: TOLDOT There are moments in life when we are required to reach our for what is rightfully ours, but the only way to attain our necessary goal is by less than honest or open means. What are we to do? And how are we to live with what we have done, after the fact? These are the dilemmas and questions that haunted _Yaakov_, who knew that he must take the birthright and his father's blessing for himself and for the sake of the future of his yet unborn progeny. Yet, G-d, circumstance and his father's proclivity toward his brother Esau did not make his decisions easy or his actions without consequences. _TOLDOT_ (Genesis 25:19 - 28:9) _Parashat Toldot_ is read on Shabbat: Kislev 5, 5781/November 21, 2020 THE WATER LIBATION REENACTMENT: A PHOTO-RETROSPECTIVE For the past 12 years the Temple Institute, in cooperation with other Temple organizations, has been conducting a Water Libation Ceremony reenactment during the week of Sukkot. The reenactment, which attracts 100s of participants, begins with a march down to the _Shiloach_ spring in the heart of the City of David. There, _kohanim_ draw pure waters from the Shiloach spring, which they carry in a silver flask back to Jerusalem’s Old City, outside the Temple Mount. On a model altar the _kohanim_ reenact the _Nisuch HaMayim_ - Water Libation Ceremony - which took place each day of Sukkot on the great stone altar which stood in the Temple Courtyard. This year, due to Covid 19, we are not able to conduct the reenactment. The following photos, taken in past years, will have to hold us over until next year, when, G-d willing, we will be performing the real Water Libation Ceremony, in the rebuilt Holy Temple!SUBSCRIBE
