TALYLLYN RAILWAY
The Talyllyn Railway is a historic narrow-gauge steam railway, set in the beautiful Mid-Wales countryside. Running from Tywyn to Abergynolwyn and Nant Gwernol, the line passes the delightful Dolgoch Falls and there are excellent forest walks at Nant Gwernol. On the 14th May 1951, the first train in Railway Preservation left Wharf station for a short trip to Rhydyronen. It marked the start of Heritage Railways as we know them now, being the first volunteer run railway in the world. We will commemorate that day with a recreation of the train to mark the 70th Anniversary of theevent.
