Meet Sharlisa. Sharlisa found out she had cancer when she was 33 weeks pregnant. She was advised to deliver her baby at 36 weeks so she could begin treatment. She began chemotherapy immediately and was barely able to hold her baby. Her husband, James, a veteran with his own health issues, had to hold it all together for the family. She began chemotherapy immediately and was barely able to hold her baby. Her husband, James, a veteran with his own health issues, had to hold it all together for the family.OUTCOME MEASURES
Studying qualitative and quantitative data routinely obtained by FPS staff following a family respite, Dr. Hamrick has identified four common themes associated with a break from cancer: 1) Relationship Quality Among Family Members (includes spouses and children of varying ages) 2) Work and Life Endurance/ Renewed Stamina.NOMINATE A PATIENT
To be considered, a patient must have a physician diagnosis of cancer, be between the ages of 24-55, and be nominated by a health care professional who is a member of the patient’s oncology team. Due to our funding structure, preference is given to patients who reside in PA, NJ, NY, DE or MD. To learn more about our program, fill out theform
