SUNDAY, 11 AUGUST 2019 THE WIND HAS DROPPED After a rather wild night the wind began to drop, we had more rainbut just a shower.
Our neighbour came home from hospital yesterday, so a quick trip across this morning to make sure she was ok. Needless to say she was glad to be home, but she is going to miss her fellow patients. DB spent time this morning in the garden tying up plants the wind had blown a tomato plant right out of the ground. Supper tonight will be chicken with new potato's, carrots and beans form the garden.......rhubarb and cream for dessert. Posted by sweet blondie blue eyes at 15:291 comment:

SATURDAY, 10 AUGUST 2019WET AND WINDY
We arrived back from our little trip for my birthday, a very wet andwindy journey back.
The journey down yesterday was fine, we found the NT property we were looking for and spent a very pleasant time. We had tomato and fennel soup for lunch with mixed seed bread. We set off to look at the house, our timed ticket was for 1 - 2pm. A lovely house, no ropes, you were able to walk round, and there were also chairs dotted about to sit on. The Throckmortons were involved in the gun powder plot, the plotters were waiting at Courton Court for 'Guy Fawkes' to arrive to tell them that the bomb had gone off and their plot to restore a catholic to the throne would be successful. Things did not turn out as expected as wenow know.
The family still live in one wing of the house. Very nice cafe delicious soup. Free cold water to drink. We sat for a while in the formal gardens. the wind was just startingto get up.
Main entrance to the house. DH looking at the stained glass window which shows the coats of arms of all the families associated with the Throckmorton's throughmarriage.
Fabulous room seen from the balcony at the top of the stairs. Lots of people milling round, there are copies of Edward XV111's abdication letter and also the letter he wrote to Parliament on show along with pictures of recent family weddings. The settees had high backs to shield the sitters from draughts. They were very comfortable, we sat talking to one of the guides for quite a while. Snow ball hydrangeas. After we had been round the house, it had started to rain, so we nipped back into the cafe and DB bought a cream tea for us. We sat reading in the car for a while and then set off to find our accommodation for the night. I had packed up a picnic for supper whichwe ate watching TV.
A very good nights sleep, we had our breakfast, a shower and were packed and away by 9.30am.......it was very windy and we had torrential rain as well, but arrived back in time for lunch. So my birthday treat is over, I enjoyed the trip, just over 1 1/2hrs travelling each way, so not too tiring. Back home the wind was blowing a hooley but no rain, car unpacked and everything put away we were soon enjoying a cup of tea. Posted by sweet blondie blue eyes at 12:027 comments:

THURSDAY, 8 AUGUST 2019FRUSTRATION
Computer techie here this morning sorting out my lap top. There was an update to windows 10 and it has lost half my embroidery designs that were stored in files, I am livid. I have a programme that converts the files to icons, so you do not have to open the file to see what it is. All the icons have gone GRRRRRR. I have been fiddling about for ages but cannot restore them. Once the techie had gone I nipped to Aldi to do the shopping, I needed a couple of things for tomorrow. We will have lunch out and I will pack up a picnic for our evening meal. Its quite a warm day, right now, we are due rain at some point. Supper tonight egg and chips and rhubarb and cream for dessert.Update
Thanks to a friend I have recovered the icons, so happy again. Posted by sweet blondie blue eyes at 12:544

WEDNESDAY, 7 AUGUST 2019SO THATS CONFIRMED
Yesterday afternoon we went to see the consultant about DB's left hand. CTunnel Syndrome confirmed. He has to have a blood test to check his clotting rate. He has to come off the blood thinners before he has the op which will be done under a local anaesthetic after we have been on holiday in late Sept. Its a sunny but very breezy morning, coffee round at the little chapel this morning. Tomorrow I have an early start, I need to go shopping before the chap comes to my computer, I then have a meetingin the town.
Chicken out for supper tonight, might do it with veggie rice for a change. choc fluff for dessert I think. Posted by sweet blondie blue eyes at 08:531 comment:

TUESDAY, 6 AUGUST 2019 A VISIT TO THE DOCTORS Breakfast over we high tailed it to the surgery to see our GP. I have been suffering with another UTI.......needed medication. DB also wanted to know if there had been any reply to the letter sent to his consultant re the medication they took him off. Answer was no, so GP has prescribed the medication that stopped DB having periods of AF. He has written another letter to the consultant telling him what he had done and why and asked for an urgent reply to his letter. It was sent on 15th July. My sample lit up all the lights on the dip strip so I have the medication I have had before and also medication to help with the painin my back.
This afternoon we have an appointment to see the surgeon about DB's carpel tunnel syndrome, so quite a busy day one way or another. Another bad night, very little sleep after 12,30 when I had to get up for the toilet. I will be glad when the medication works, I will not have to get up in the night then. We have had several shower of rain, interspersed with sun, the wind is keeping the temperature down a bit. Supper tonight..... egg mayo and salad. MONDAY, 5 AUGUST 2019BLACK CLOUDS
It had been raining when we drew the curtains back, it rained on and off all morning, this afternoon it has been bright and sunny, but we now have black clouds again.....so I guess its going to rain. Laundry done but dried in the dryer, folded and put away. One jobless.
DB spent just a few minutes in the garden before the rain came on, so he has spent today researching the Dairy that used to be in the village, they made Stilton cheese there. The library van came this afternoon, I had 8 books that I had ordered, so no shortage of reading matter for a while. Sliced the loaf I made yesterday and also the remains of the pork, we have pork for supper again with mash and veg. I made creme caramel yesterday so we can finish that off for dessert. SUNDAY, 4 AUGUST 2019ITS SUNDAY
so our usual fruit, croissant and coffee in bed. Its a bright morning but the breeze is keeping the temperature down. DB is out in the garden, just cannot keep him in, so its up to him..........I have ironing to finish and the side borders to put onthe quilt top.
Cooked tonight's pork yesterday so just have the veggies to do and a dessert to sort out. We have booked a night away on Friday, we are going to visit Coughton Court in Warwickshire, we are members of the Scottish national Trust so park and get into the house free. We need to make sure we get value for money from our membership. Our first trip this year. Staying overnight at a travel lodge. The first time for a long time. Supper roast pork with veggies, not sure what will have to see whats ready in the garden. Posted by sweet blondie blue eyes at 10:282
