These are just some of the methods residents have used to show their dissatisfaction with people parking on public streets in front of their homes. THE DAWSON FOREST SITE: ATLANTA'S INTRIGUING FORMER While the city of Atlanta may still want to the use the site for a second airport, the likelihood of this occurring seems ever more remote. A study back in 2011 that analyzed the feasibility of several sites in the area including the Dawson Forest site and the other likely airport site in Paulding Country found no feasible sites. Despite this report, officials still seem to be focused on the ICE DISPLACES WATER, SO MELTING ICE WON’T CAUSE OCEANS TO Oceans will rise when ice melts because (1) sea water expands when it warms; and (2) lots of ice on land is melting ( i.e. ice that wasn’t already displacing water in the ocean). Add to that the fact that we’ve already observed the ocean actually rising as the Earth warms and ice melts. It won’t. DOWN WITH THE FLASHING YELLOW CROSSWALK SIGNALS A yellow light simply doesn’t make sense for drivers. The flashing yellow lights come with a sign that says “stop when flashing” or “stop for pedestrians in crosswalk” or some strange combination of the two. Traditionally yellow means slow down, be cautious, or be prepared to stop; it never commands you to stop. That’s why we havered.
THE FICTIONAL ALCOHOL LAW THAT’S DESTROYING LIVES The Metropolitan Washington, D.C., Council of Governments estimates that the hidden cost of bags is over $37 per person per year, while stores typically spend about $1,000 to $6,000 on bags monthly. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s estimated that between less than 1 percent and up to 3 percent of plastic bags consumed are actually recycled. REMEMBERING THE TIME ANDREW JACKSON DECIDED TO IGNORE THE “John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it.” Those are the famous words uttered by President Andrew Jackson in relation to U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Marshall’s 1832 decision in Worcester v.Georgia to strike down a Georgia law that imposed regulations on the comings and goings of white people in Native American land. GEORGIA AIMS TO BRING SOLAR ENERGY TO A NEIGHBORHOOD NEAR Georgia Aims to Bring Solar Energy to a Neighborhood Near You. Last week Representative Mike Dudgeon introduced a bill designed to dramatically increase the availability of solar energy equipment to the average person. The Georgia Legislature was in recess last week, so instead of discussing new bills we’ll take a closer look at thisone.
