Inspired by Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the aim was to move away from homogenised norms and create a series of furniture, for Japanese company E&Y, in which each piece of furniture is tailored to a different family-member’s size and preference. By creating four versions of the Happy Family Chairs for adults and children, wecelebrated
BEACH HOUSE, 2012
Inspired by Danish summerhouse culture, the brief was to design a small family beach house on a very restricted site. The chalet was to be in keeping with the local vernacular and sleep a family of four, with a generous communal area for hosting family and friends, with seating for 20 people inside and outside and plenty of space for play. SMALL TOWN HOUSE, 2011 We have always been fascinated by how small spaces can be designed to feel spacious, so the brief to convert a former 40m2 carpenter’s workshop into a comfortable townhouse was an interesting challenge.BRANCH OUT 2009
In 2009, the brief for TEN XYZ was to create a project using digital technologies. Inspired by the fallen branches in the forest, Studiomama worked with Metropolitan Works with the aim of creating a small intervention using a natural form, alongside 3D scanner, 3D software and stereo lithography technologies. OUTDOOR KITCHEN 2010 Building on 10 TEN X, the same designers continued to come together each year at 100% Design to showcase work that emphasised sustainability. In their fifth year, during the London Design Festival 2010, the TEN collective showed TEN PLAN, an exhibition of projects accompanied by plans and instructions. GARAGE PLOT DEVELOPMENT, 2010 The brief was to develop a scheme for a live/work development of a garage plot in East London. The aim was that it should blend into the streetscape which predominantly comprised brick buildings. HOME | STUDIOMAMAARCHITECTUREEXHIBITIONSPRODUCTSABOUTCONTACTHAPPYFAMILY CHAIRS
