A program of the School of Theology of the University of the South, EfM offers theological reflection and college-level instruction in the core curriculum of the seminary in four academic years: Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, and Theology. YOUTH - ST. JAMES' PARISH With renewed energy our congregation is committed to making St. James’ not only welcoming to adults but also to children, youth andtheir families.
HISTORY - ST. JAMES' PARISH In the Beginning On March 30, 1913, the congregation of St. James‘ Episcopal Church held the first service in its new chapel in Waimea. About a dozen people gathered that day to hear the good news preached by Rev. Frank Merrill, who had traveled by horseback and buggy over the Kohala Mountains from Kapa‘au, a journey that then took manyhours.

We support self-help programs. An important ministry of St. James’ is sharing of our space with programs such as Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous. JAMES' PARISH The vestry is elected by the congregation and is led by the rector. At St. James’, our vestry members serve two-year terms. Our Junior Warden is elected to a one-year term and has specific oversight of the Building and Grounds committee. Our Senior Warden is appointed by the rector. The Treasurer is an appointed position by the Vestry.STEWARDSHIP
Music at St. James’ is central to our worship and a joy and comfort to our souls. We typically offer three worship services on Sunday (two at St. James’, one at St. Columba’s), one on Saturday (Beach Mass in Kawaihae), and weekly Morning Prayer at St. James’. When the Covid-19 pandemic caused suspension of in-person services, we SUPPORT - ST.
