Unlike any other NFL team, for 25 years the New York Giants and Jets shared the same stadium. The New York Football Giants are a franchise full of history, being a member of the NFL since 1925 and having won seven NFL championships. From their inception in 1925 until 1955, the Giants played at Polo Grounds. The seating capacity increased from 31,000 to 46,000. The stadium had a rounded horseshoe appearance and the second tier spanned the entire inside of the horseshoe. In 1953, the NFL awarded Baltimore a franchise that took the name of the old AFC Colts. The Baltimore Colts played their inaugural first game at Memorial Stadium on September 27,1953.

When the Chargers moved to San Diego the stadium was expanded. In May 1961, an upper deck was constructed increasing the capacity from 23,000 to 34,000. FORD FIELD, DETROIT LIONS FOOTBALL STADIUM The year 2002 marked the opening of three new stadiums in the NFL, including Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions. In 1975 the Lions left Detroit, moving to Pontiac, MI and the 80,000 seat Silverdome.The Lions played there for over two decades before wanting a new stadiumin the mid 1990s.
VETERANS STADIUM
In the late 1990s, both the Eagles and Phillies wanted new stadiums. Construction on the Eagles new stadium, Lincoln Financial Field, began in 2001. The Eagles played their last game at Veterans Stadium on January 19, 2003. Veterans Stadium closed in October 2003 and was demolished on March 21, 2004. It is now a parking lot for the sportscomplex.
