Registration was suspended early in 1975 and the Selective Service System entered into “deep standby”. Beginning in late 1979, a series of “revitalization” efforts were begun in an effort to upgrade the System’s capability for rapid mobilization in an emergency. In the summer of 1980, registration was resumed.AGENCY STRUCTURE
The Selective Service System’s structure consists of the National Headquarters, Data Management Center, and three Region Headquarters, with 124 full-time employees authorized. Regional headquarters are responsible for maintaining and training the local boards within their jurisdictions. Selective Service has more than 2,000 local and appeal BENEFITS & REPERCUSSIONS If required to register with Selective Service, failure to register is a felony punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or 5 yearsimprisonment.
INDUCTION STATISTICS Induction Statistics. The following shows the number of men who were inducted into military service through the Selective Service System during the major 20th century conflicts. The Selective Service provided 27% of the men in uniform during the Korean War. As a result of the Physicians and Dentists Draft Act, 7,054 physicians and 3,799 dentists are delivered by Selective Service to the Armed Forces. Less than 50 of them were actually inducted. HISTORICAL TIMELINE
The Selective Service provided 27% of the men in uniform during the Korean War. As a result of the Physicians and Dentists Draft Act, 7,054 physicians and 3,799 dentists are delivered by Selective Service to the Armed Forces. Less than 50 of them were actually inducted. The Selective Service System’s structure consists of the National Headquarters, Data Management Center, and three Region Headquarters, with 124 full-time employees authorized. Regional headquarters are responsible for maintaining and training the local boards within their jurisdictions.
