Proud history of technical excellence In Australia, SMEC’s core service offering covers the lifecycle of a project across urban renewal, transport design and energy sectors. Last year marked 70 years since our origins in 1949, when construction began on the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme, our namesake project and one of the civil engineering wonders of the modern world. Creating an Australian landmark would not have been possible without strong technical expertise, advanced engineering and a culture of delivery, collaboration and innovation. We are incredibly proud to work on the Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme Expansion Project (Snowy 2.0) to undertake the Feasibility Study. Snowy 2.0 will be the second largest pumped hydro project in the world, increasing generation capacity by 2000 MW and providing 175 hours of energystorage.
