Fix It Day, sometimes called the Telescope Tune Up or the Telescope Fix It program is a real simple service the SJAA offers to members of the community for free, though it’s priceless. The Fix It session provides a place for people to come with their telescope or other astronomy gear problems and have them lookedat
WILLIAMS HILL SITE REPORT This is a site report, not so much an observing report. My main goal was to go to check out the surroundings. On July 30-31 2016, I went to Williams Hill Recreation Area, managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), to investigate the suitability of the site for purposes of astronomical observing, with the possibility of spending the night. The area is located about 27 road miles, or 17 IN-TOWN PUBLIC STAR PARTIES at Houge Park in San Jose. Public Star Parties are not like other parties where people snack and drink. Instead theses are star gazing parties where the SJAA and their members set up telescopes and let the public view the night skies at their leisure all for Free.. Members are there to assist the public and answer any questions anyone mayhave.

ASTRO IMAGING PROGRAMS The Astro Imaging Special Interest Group (SIG), led by Bruce Braunstein, has a mission of bringing together people who have an interest in astronomy imaging, or put more simply, taking pictures of the night sky. The Imaging SIG meets roughly every month at Houge Park to discuss topics about imaging. The SIG is open to people with absolutely no experience but want to learn what it’s all about SJAA: EPHEMERIS NEWSLETTER The San Jose Astronomical Association 's monthly newsletter. BEGINNERS ASTRONOMY CLASSES Beginners Astronomy Classes are regularly held at Houge Park. It is geared toward kids, but with content adults too will appreciate.
