MSA MEASUREMENT SYSTEM ANALYSIS Measurement system analysis (MSA) uses scientific tools to determine the amount of variation contributed by the measurement system.. It is an objective method to assess the validity of a measurement system and minimize the factors contributing to process variation that are actually stemming from the measurement system. The final capability is determined and the closing performance and all related changes are documented on the closing contract. This phase is not as

After the MSA is complete, the Six Sigma project has a goal of improving the baseline measurement. In order to measure improvement (or lack of) there must be a starting point. This is called the baseline measurement.I-MR, INDIVIDUALS

Process 1: Taking much longer than Takt time.Overtime is probably used to make up production and is the #1 constraint. Process 2: Exceeding the Takt time, probably a lot of waiting and the excess capacity can be filled by absorbing some of the work from Process 1 and/or Process 4. Process 3 & 5: Very close to meeting Takt time, not a focus area but possibly some best practices and application PROCESS CAPABILITY INDICES STEP 6: Calculate the basic statistics such as the mean, standard deviation, and variance. Calculate the capability indices (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk, Cpm) as applicable. STEP 7: Verify to the customer requirement for capability where the process is acceptable. NOTE: This is a SAMPLE analysis. This chart is used to plot CONTINUOUS data. The Individuals (I) Chart plots each measurement (sometimes called an observation) as a separate data point. Each data point stands on its own and the means there is no rational subgrouping and the subgroup size = 1. A typical Moving Range (MR) Chart uses a default value of 2, which means each data CPK - SIX SIGMA MATERIAL Cpk is an option (along with z-score and PPM or DPMO) when describing process baseline measurement in the MEASURE phase. By viewing the plots from the side it is possible to visualize the histogram’s general shape. Two variants from the commonly used fixed width box plot are the notched box plot and the other is the variable width box plot.
