CHILDREN'S SERMONS FOR LECTIONARY YEAR B Sermons for Year B. The Revised Common Lectionary (RCL) is a three-year cycle of weekly readings used by many churches in North America. It is built around the seasons of the church year. Lectionary Year B focuses on Old Testament stories of monarchs. New Testament readings focus primarily on the gospel according to Mark. MEMORIAL DAY CHILDREN'S SERMON The Bible tells us that Jesus died to set us free from the penalty of sin. Instead of death, we have been given eternal life. This freedom wasn't free, Jesus paid the price. This week as we celebrate Memorial Day, let us remember to stop and thank God for those who have paid the price for our freedom. Let us also remember to thank God for Jesus THE TRINITY CHILDREN'S SERMON The last part of the “Holy Trinity” is the Holy Spirit God sent the Holy Spirit to us after Jesus went back to Heaven, so we could keep Jesus with us. The Holy Spirit is the very presence of God within all believers. The Holy Spirit is our teacher and guide. He teaches us truth, and guides us WHAT'S MINE IS YOURS CHILDREN'S SERMON In our bible lesson (Acts 4:32-35) we read about a group of amazing people. They were a unified bunch, caring for each other’s needs. Their hearts were filled with love for Jesus and bursting with love for one another. Many of the people were moved by the needs of the poor and needy, and they began selling the things they owned andhanding
FOLLOW ME CHILDREN'S SERMON Explain to the children that although some people may tell you that many ways lead to heaven and to Jesus, that Jesus taught us in the Bible that there is only one way to follow him. Although it isn’t always the easy way or the fun way, it is the right way. If we choose to follow Jesus, the rewards are always going to be worth it. LOVE WITHOUT END CHILDREN'S SERMON Scripture. Psalms 136 (God's love endures forever) Luke 3:11, Acts 4:32 (sharing), Acts 2:46 (Loving each other) Acts 18:24-25 (Telling others) Note: As the kids walk up, bounce the ball to one of them. Be careful you don't throw it to someone who will return it too hard or too far. As they are sitting down, bounce it to the others, one at atime.
AS I HAVE LOVED YOU CHILDREN'S SERMON In the Bible, He reminded His friends that He loves ALL the children, no matter what they look like or what their interests and talents are. And He wants us to love others like that, too. He said, "Love each other as I have loved you." Today we’re going to think more about how to love everyone and not leave anyone out--butterscotch or not. LIVING WATER CHILDREN'S SERMON The part of the world where Jesus lived was very hot and dry. One day, as he was traveling through Samaria, Jesus passed through a small village by the name of Sychar. Jacob's well was there and Jesus, hot and tired from the long walk, sat down beside the well about noontime to rest. Soon a Samaritan woman came to the well to fill her waterjar.
A MUSTARD SEED FAITH CHILDREN'S SERMON One day, Jesus was talking to his disciples when one of them turned to him and said, "Lord, increase our faith." Jesus answered and said, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you." Can you imagine what it would be like to have that kind offaith?

I'm sure that all of you have made things from clay or Play-Doh. There’s even a job for making bowls, jars, art, and more from clay. Someone who does this is called apotter.
Today you’re going to be one-minute potters. I’ll call out a shape and you have one minute to make it. Ready? First, you have one minute to make a flower, go. _(Allow kids one minute to mold the object.) _Time’s up, hold up those flowers. Okay, next you have one minute to make a horse, go. _(Allow kids one minute to mold the object.) _That was a bit harder. Hold up those horses. Okay, lastly, you have one minute to make a vase, go. _(Allow kids one minute to mold the object.) _Time is up. Hold up those vases. You were great one-minute potters today. Now roll your clay into a ball and set it in front ofyou.
What happens to a piece of clay if you forget and leave it out for a long time? _(Invite kids to shout out answers.) _It dries up and gets hard. When it’s dried out, it’s not easy to mold it into what wewant it to be.
That reminds me of what was happening to God's people during the day of the prophet Isaiah. In our Bible lesson today, Isaiah is very upset and is begging God to come down and change the hearts of his people. "We have sinned and turned away from You and You have become angry with us. How can we be saved? No one calls on Your name or pleads for Your mercy. You've turned away from us." Sounds pretty hopeless, but Isaiah didn't think so. He knew if the people would turn back to God, He could mold them and shape them into what He wanted them to be--like clay. Isaiah said to God, "Oh Lord, you’re our Father. We’re the clay, and You’re the potter. We’re formed by your hand. Please don't be so angry with us. Look at us and see that we’re Your people." Isaiah knew even though the hearts of God's people had become hard, God could still mold them into what He wanted them to be. _(Invite kids to mold their clay into heartshapes.)_
Just like the people in Isaiah's day, we sometimes stray away from God and our hearts become hard. All is not hopeless. If we will turn back to God and ask Him to forgive us, He can mold us and shape us into what He wants us to be. God is still the potter and we’re still the clay! Hold the heart you made between your hands while we ask God to mold our hearts. _(Pause for a moment.)_ Dear God, forgive us when we go astray. Take us in your hands and shape us into what You want us to be. In Jesus' name, amen.Página en español
