Sunderland is one of the few cities in the UK to have a river, beautiful coastline and two award winning beaches at Roker andSeaburn.
SEAFRONT | SEE IT DO IT SUNDERLAND We're a city by the sea and very proud of it. Go to the beach and make the most of it! Take a stroll, bring a kite, make a sandcastle, have a jog, swim, bring your surfboard, devour an ice cream, explore the rockpools, tuck into fish and chips or simply take a seat and gaze out to the distant horizon and watch the tide come and go whatever floatsyour boat.
A FASCINATING HERITAGE TO EXPLORE Most cities have the odd claim to fame. Being the birthplace of modern Christianity is a pretty big one though. Add to that strong links with the formation of the United States of America, legends of giant monsters and a seemingly incongruous Greek style temple then it’s clear to see that Sunderland’s heritage is a fascinating one.
