Mission Bay is a large, relatively shallow, man made bay built for the purpose of recreation as the centerpiece of Mission Bay Park, the largest of its kind in the United States at 4,235 acres. Another key is finding female sand crabs with roe, the bright orange egg sack seen in the photo above. If possible, you want every crab in your bait holder to have the orange roe. Lake Sutherland is located in Ramona, CA about 45 miles northeast of downtown San Diego. At 557 surface acres at full pool, it is mid-sized, larger than the typical San Diego reservoir. SAN VICENTE RESERVOIR San Vicente Reservoir reopened for fishing and boating on September 22nd, 2016 after being closed for more than 8 years while it underwent a massive project to raise the height of the dam by 117 vertical feet – the tallest dam raise in United States history..
