HOW TO MAKE A POP GUN Step1 Cut the dowel and the PVC pipe. If your wood dowel is 3' (36") long, cut into two 18" pieces. If your dowel is 4' long (48") you can cut it into three 16" pieces if you're making three popguns. Use a hacksaw, or even just a hacksaw blade to cut it. Again with a hacksaw blade, cut a 1' (12") piece of PVC pipe. BOOMERANG - SCIENCETOYMAKER Tray DeWolf and Luise Kessel and Clapping Hands Farm. Clapping Hands Farm has had to move online this summer due to COVID-19, but they are still doing challenging projects like making the boomerang. HOW TO MAKE A PERISCOPE WITH CD OR DVD Step 2: Cut out the periscope body and the triangle mounts. Go here and print out the body pattern. Some browsers and PDF viewers change the scale and the size of the printed pattern. Choose the print options that say something like "Actual Size" or "Scale: 100%." Also, the printout has a scale check. It says 2" line to line or 5 cm lineto line.
HOW TO MAKE AIR ROCKETS Note: Bill Lewis, a teacher at Knight High School who has made air rockets with classes 2nd grade up to 12th grade and also with my family, has come up with a fin variation different than the one described below. It's folded in the middle so it's double layer; taped on both sides. HOW TO MAKE A PUTT PUTT /POP POP BOAT Follow directions exactly when making your first engine! And don't do anything not in the instructions. Trust me that there are reasons for all the finicky details. Below are the video links and descriptions to making the kind of toy steam engine putt putt (pop pop) boat seen inthe movie Ponyo.

In the children’s animated movie Ponyo, the young heroes use magic to transform a toy putt putt boat into a big boat and ride in it. Alas, those of us who are lacking in magical powers have to grapple with the persnickety laws of nature.Skip to content

FRANTIŠEK IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC I received this picture and video from František, a young man in the Czech Republic. František cut his own foam, experimented with the Baby Bug and Thompson Jagwing gliders; and he created this elegant, charming biplane from 2 Jagwings. His glider also has a tail, and his video shows very well the challenge. If the updraft of air hits the glider more in the back or the front, then the glider dives or stalls. I have asked František to experiment with holding the board at a less steep angle and see if it is any easier to fly. David Aronsteinhas created
many walkalong glider designs with tails, and in his interview did a great job of explaining the challenges and how to mitigate them.Thomas Buchwald
