50 SUMMER SCIENCE ACTIVITIES AND EXPERIMENTS FOR KIDS Summer is a brilliant time to explore science outdoors with children. You don’t have to set up fancy experiments, even just looking at properties of plants and leaves or doing a bit of sinking and floating in the paddling pool is great simple science for little ones. EXPERIMENTS YOU CAN MAKE FLY Bottle Rocket. One of our most popular science experiments is our bottle rocket. They do take a bit of setting up, but can be used over and over again so are definitely worth the initial effort. You can also buy a bottle rocket kit which makes it a bit easier. These investigations are great for cooling down in summer, and if it’s cold enough in winter you could try leaving water in a mould or tray outside overnight to see if it freezes without a freezer. 25 ENGINEERING PROJECTS FOR KIDS Find out why an egg can be almost unbreakable in certain circumstances. UNDER THE SEA ACTIVITY IDEAS One of the things I love the most about Science Sparks is theming our activities, so today I’ve got some great Under the Sea themed learning ideas to share, mostly suitable for Early Years/Kindergarten age, but all could be extended for older children.. Make an Under the Sea themed sensory jar.This is quite a large example, but you could use small water bottles and make a mini version. SHADOW EXPERIMENTS AND ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS Shadow Frame. Make a shadow frame using cardboard and contact paper. This is great for experimenting with different shapes and types of materials.
