We offer three programs: Stage 1 – School Life of the Past Stage 2 – Continuity and Change Stage 2 – At School At War Students are immersed in ABOUT - SCHOOLHOUSE MUSEUM The brick buildings of the NSW Schoolhouse Museum are the first school buildings of North Ryde Public School, dating back to 1877. Following lobbying by the local community, the school started as a single schoolroom with separate teacher’s residence built on one acre of land donated by Richard Wicks in 1877. Students interact with artefacts and use the skills of historical inquiry to investigate the past. We offer three programs: Stage 1 – School Life of the Past Stage 2 – Continuity and Change Stage 2 – At School At War Students are immersed in ABOUT - SCHOOLHOUSE MUSEUM The brick buildings of the NSW Schoolhouse Museum are the first school buildings of North Ryde Public School, dating back to 1877. Following lobbying by the local community, the school started as a single schoolroom with separate teacher’s residence built on one acre of land donated by Richard Wicks in 1877. The school, named City ViewPublic

A glimpse of schooling from the past, the NSW Schoolhouse Museum is a popular excursion venue for schools. With a hands-on focus, students interact with artefacts and experience early school life. They use skills of historical inquiry to investigate the past: Present and Past Family Life; The Past in the Present; Community and Remembrance. The NSW Schoolhouse Museum was the first building of North Ryde Public School. The original schoolroom was built in 1877 for 45 pupils with extra rooms built in 1893 and 1910. Housed in restored early schoolrooms, the museum collects and preserves objects relating to the history of public education in NSW. NORTH RYDE PS 140 YEARS OF OPERATION Posted on MARCH 25, 2018 in GENERAL Our 1877 schoolroom commenced operation with 40 pupils in January 1878. At the official opening in early March enrolments had increased to 53 pupils.
