THE TALL SHIPS RACES 2021 The Tall Ships Races 2021 will take place between 26 June and 3 August. During these six weeks, the races will visit Klaipeda, Turku, Tallinn, Mariehamn, and Szczecin. We’re thrilled to be returning to the Baltic Sea to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Tall Ships Races and Regattas. The 2021 race series will see the fleet visit fivePELICAN OF LONDON
PELICAN OF LONDON is unique among Square Riggers. Her hull form was derived from the elite French clippers of the late 19th century, with a length to breadth ratio of 5:1, a flared bow, fine entry and run. A long poop deck has been added which provides exceptional space and ROYALIST - SAIL ON BOARD TS ROYALIST is the Sea Cadets flagship, a training brig that takes twenty-four cadets to sea for six day voyages. The vessel was designed by Acubens, built during 2014 / 2015 at the Spanish shipyard of Astilleros Gondan. The Princess Royal officially named the Marine Society and Sea Cadets’ flagship, TS ROYALIST. The brig design SORLANDET - HOME - SAIL ON BOARD The Sail Training Ship SORLANDET is owned and administrated by a non-profit foundation. The objective of the ship’s sailing activities is to offer the general public an experience in traditional life on board a tall ship, as well as maintaining the ship by active use. SORLANDET is open for THE TALL SHIPS RACES 2022 The Tall Ships Races 2022 will see the international fleet of Tall Ships and Small Ships return to the North Sea. From 7 July-7 August, we will visit Esbjerg, Harlingen, Antwerp and Aalborg. The event will mark a welcome return to all four Host Ports who have hosted a total of 16 Tall Ships Races and Regattas so far. HARLINGEN, THE NETHERLANDS Harlingen is one of the oldest seaports in the Netherlands, and it’s the gateway to northern Holland from the North Sea. Harlingen is the homeport for sea-going trawlers and a large traditional sail charter fleet. Harlingen is a yachting centre and it has two ancient tidal docks – the Noorderhaven and Zuidehaven.OCEAN SCOUT

“St. Lawrence II” was designed in 1952 by Francis MacLachlan and Mike Eames expressly for youth sail training. Gord Workman and Grant MacLachlan were also key figures in the development and initial fund raising of what is today the longest running youth sail training organization in the world. The hull was built at Kingston Shipyards BELEM - SAIL ON BOARD Having begun life as a cargo ship transporting sugar from the West Indies as well as cocoa and coffee from Brazil and French Guiana to Nantes in France, the tall ship Belem is now over 120 years old, with a history that also includes becoming a private yacht for Hugh Grosvenor, 2nd Duke of Westminster SAGRES - SAIL ON BOARD The present training ship Sagres was built in 1937 at the Blohm & Voss shipyards, in Hamburg. Her original name was Albert Leo Schlageter and she was the third of a series of four ships procured at the time by the German Navy (Kriegsmarine). The other three ships were the EXCELSIOR - SAIL ON BOARD Excelsior is a Lowestoft Smack which was built in 1921 to fish in the North Sea in all weathers as one of a fleet of 300 similar vessels. She was fully restored in 1989 to maintain her tough construction and is now a regular competitor in major maritime events, having takenpart in the Cutty

HMCS Oriole was originally laid down as the Oriole IV, the successor in a line of vessels named Oriole that were in service as the flagships for the Royal Canadian Yacht Club of Toronto, Ontario. During World War II, she was chartered by the Royal Canadian Navy as a training vessel. In 1949 she was GORCH FOCK - SAIL ON BOARD The Gorch Fock is a tall ship of the German Navy (Deutsche Marine). She is the second ship of that name and a sister ship of the Gorch Fock built in 1933. Both ships are named in honor of the German writer Johann Kinau who wrote under the pseudonym “Gorch Fock” and died in the battle of Jutland/Skagerrak in 1916. More recently she has been used BELEM - SAIL ON BOARD Having begun life as a cargo ship transporting sugar from the West Indies as well as cocoa and coffee from Brazil and French Guiana to Nantes in France, the tall ship Belem is now over 120 years old, with a history that also includes becoming a private yacht for Hugh Grosvenor, 2nd Duke of Westminster PROVIDENT - SAIL ON BOARD Provident is owned and run by Trinity Sailing Foundation, which also runs two other traditional Brixham sailing vessels – Leader and Golden Vanity. During World War II, she was chartered by the Royal Canadian Navy as a training vessel. In 1949 she was HARLINGEN, THE NETHERLANDS Harlingen is one of the oldest seaports in the Netherlands, and it’s the gateway to northern Holland from the North Sea. Harlingen is the homeport for sea-going trawlers and a large traditional sail charter fleet. Harlingen is a yachting centre and it has two ancient tidal docks – the Noorderhaven and Zuidehaven. “St. Lawrence II” was designed in 1952 by Francis MacLachlan and Mike Eames expressly for youth sail training. Gord Workman and Grant MacLachlan were also key figures in the development and initial fund raising of what is today the longest running youth sail training organization in the world. The hull was built at Kingston Shipyards EXCELSIOR - SAIL ON BOARD Excelsior is a Lowestoft Smack which was built in 1921 to fish in the North Sea in all weathers as one of a fleet of 300 similar vessels. She was fully restored in 1989 to maintain her tough construction and is now a regular competitor in major maritime events, having takenpart in the Cutty
SAGRES - SAIL ON BOARD The present training ship Sagres was built in 1937 at the Blohm & Voss shipyards, in Hamburg. Her original name was Albert Leo Schlageter and she was the third of a series of four ships procured at the time by the German Navy (Kriegsmarine). The other three ships were the GEDANIA - SAIL ON BOARD Gedania was built in 1975 and entered the Tall Ships’ Races on several occasions. In 2005 she was rebuilt by Sail Training Association Poland. Her hull was extended and she is now almost 24 metres in length. She also had new sails, new equipment, new crew and new adventures. Gedania is licensed to carry upORIOLE (HMCS)
