新型コロナウイルスの感染が14日、県内で初めて確認されました。そもそもコロナウイルスとはどのような感染症でしょうか。新型はまだ未解明な部分もありますが、現時点で分かっている特徴などについてまとめました。 ―コロナウイルスとは。 「これまで6種類が知られています。世界で流行した重症急性呼吸器症候群(SARS)と中東呼吸器症候群(MARS)はその一種。深刻な呼吸器疾患を引き起こすことがあるが、ほか4種類はせきや咽頭痛などを発症するいわゆる『風邪』で、10~15%はコロナウイルスが原因です」 ―怖いウイルスなの? 「最も患者数が増えている中国湖北省の致死率(感染者のうち死亡した人の割合)は2%超で、100人のうち2人が亡くなっている計算です。重度の肺炎を引き起こし死に至る可能性があるという意味では怖さはあります。ただ、湖北省以外ではそれより低い数値だそうです。重症者や死亡者の情報が目に付きますが、実際はただの風邪で、治っている人が圧倒的に多いといいます」 ―どういう人が重症化しているの。 「高齢者や持病がある人の中に感染して肺炎をこじらせたり、持病を悪化させたりする人がいますが、若くて健康であれば、感染してもいつもの風邪で終わるそうです。健康管理が十分にできている人は発症しても自宅でしっかり療養していれば、重症化は免れる可能性が高そうです」 ―どのような症状に? 「日本環境感染学会によると上気道炎、気管支炎、肺炎を発症すると考えられています。感染者全員が発症するわけでなく、無症状で経過してウイルスが排除される事例もあるといいます。症状は発熱や咳、筋肉痛、倦怠(けんたい)感、呼吸困難が比較的多いです」―治療法は。
「有効性が証明された治療法やワクチンはありません。現時点で治療の基本は対症療法です。感染症の流行は一定人数が感染し、免疫を獲得することで終息していく仕組みのため、新型コロナウイルスは一定人数の感染が避けられないのが現状です」 ------------------------- ―もし自分が感染したかと思ったら。 「まずは厚生労働省の相談窓口や県地域保健課に電話をすることです。症状がなければ保健所はウイルス検査の対応はしない可能性が高いです。心配な人は活動を控えながら、症状が出てきたら改めて保健所に相談し対応を確認してはどうでしょうか。自身を守ることも大事ですが、高齢者や妊婦などハイリスク者を守ることも重要です。感染の疑いがなくても一つ一つ行動を見直すことが予防につながります」 -------------------------関連記事
